Default b series are all compatible??

ok heres the scoop... i kinda got a hell of a deal. i gave some guy a d series block, and blown to hell d series crank for a good deal. well i think it is. he gave me a b16a block, the oil pan, brand new water pump, brand new seals, the used 35000 mile pistons, the high dome ones, because this is a jdm, the rods, and a perfect almost brand new crank. he also gave me, a b18a block complete with harness, and everything on it. all i need is the head, and componenets for a head. i have a b18a intake manifold, and a whole bunch of other b series parts. he told me i can put the b16 pistons in the b18 block, and raise the compression true or is he bullishing me? based on what i have, i need everyones opinion on what my best option would be. ls/vtec, b16a, ls i currently have a sedan 93 ex with a tdo4. i have the shell of a 93 hatch in my backyard. what engine will kick ***?? thanks

um i don' think 1.6l pistons will fit into a 1.8 liter block unless the extra liters come from stroke. which i don't think is the case but i'm not sure really

yup you can use the piston.
I would just get a B16 head and put it on the B16...the B16 has better rod to stroke ratio. And boost it Jan-style . Or look for 2 B16 heads one for each block and put either one in either car

Well.. the b18block, is it a complete short block w/ crank/pistons?

if not you will have to use the crank/rods/pistons from the b16 effectively cancelling out the point of b18. You'd be de-stroking a b18 to b16.

correct, you would not be doing yourself a favor doing this. you would get ow compresion with the setup and not be happy.

ok sweet all that helps, but is it possible to raise the compression with the b16 pistons and just use the ls rods?? would that help at all?

you have two peices that many will love to have? I say take it slow build both if they are completed, keep the b16a b16, and turn the b18 into ls vtec, just get to b16 heads, and research on the work you need the get it done, thats what I would do, and did you say they were free?

build b16a. More reliable then a ls/vtec.

And give me the LS block for my help.

yes it was all free. so, what if i get rid of the b18 block, would i be able to interchange the parts, such as b18 rods with b16 pistons?? what would be the best setup if i am able to. i have pistons rods and crank to both engines. which block would suit the best. thanks
