Autometer Air/fuel Ratio gauge HELLLPPP!!!!

My gauge goes blank when at idle and zips to rich when I press on the throttle. Is that how this gauge supposed to work? If so then Autometer is full of ---- because I don't need a gauge to tell me that the injectors are wide open at wide open throttle.

Maybe I have it hooked up wrong? I have O2 sensor with 4 wires. Two black, one green, and one white. They say hook it up to the O2 signal wire but which one is which? Some body help because I can't tune my car without knowing if I am lean or rich.

The white wire is the signal wire.

It sounds like you have it hooked up right. Those gauges are ----. At idle it should be bouncing all over the place. When it is in gear and you aren't on the gas it should go blank. When you have it floored it SHOULD stay in the green.

Re:Autometer Air/fuel Ratio gauge HELLLPPP!!!!

I have an AM A/F in my CRX, and i only bounch about 3 led's each way at idle (once it's warmed up). if you start your engine cold, it's going to go full rich right away, then as it warms up, it's go to stoich. only time mines goes blank, is if i'm doing like 30 or more, andlet off the gas and don't push the clutch in. where did you splice it into at? i tired mine into the O2 sensor, not the main harness. it should be AFTER the connector from the harness to the O2 sensor. try resetting your ECU (instructions else-where), this won't make your A/F gauge work, but it will force your car to re-learn, and it shouldn't bounce all over at idle, it shold stay with-in a few leds either way (again, once it's warmed up). HTH!

Well I hooked the gauge up between the O2 sensor and the main harness; the recommended place. Anyway, it still does the same thing. Then, on top of that, the gauge didn't come with a light so at night it looks like I am doing some kind of APC Pepboys Rice Burner Light show with all of the gauges uniform and one dancing light. I am just going to have to get an EGT gauge to tune because this Autometer thing is full of sh$t.

Hahaha ------- ricer!!! :PJ/K.

You should get a wideband. You won't have a whole lot of tuning abilities with an EGT. It will give you a ball park figure just as the shitty A/F gauge did.

So you are saying get a wideband O2 sensor and hook up an air fuel ratio gauge that displays numbers instead of an led show.

How would an egt gauge be worthless? I plan on getting four senders and monitoring them all via a switch board. Meaning if I want to see EGT on cylinder one, I just press a button to give me that probe. So on and so on.

I know I am crazy but if this setup is doomed for failure then let me know. Also the 4 EGT probes will be tapped into my equal length OBX turbo manifold once I recieve it from slow ass USPS.

Get a wideband with a digital dispaly and be done with it. As accurate as a dyno only you will be on the street.

With the EGT you really don't know if it is too lean or not. You just watch the gauge and if it gets too hot all of the sudden, by that time it's too late. You really have to have a strong idea of where YOUR egt gauge should read in order to use that as a tuning device. Your idea is great about the probes in each runner. I want to do the same.
