Automatic to manual
Hiya
I have a automatic 98 civic (d16y and i wanted to change it over to manual. I know it can be done but not quite sure what items are needed besides the obvious manual transmission. As far as which ones can used, what years...etc. If ya can give me some insight it would be much appreciated
thanks

Re:Automatic to manual
That is going to be really a lot of work to do, and would be easier (probably cheaper too) if you sold the car and bought the one you want.
But, if that is what you want to do, then start thinking about:
clutch master cylinder (are the mounts even there for it)
slave cylinder and lines
complete pedal assembly for manual tranny
ECU
shift linkage
console (if you desire)
axles may be different?
flywheel
clutch
I am sure there is other stuff too, but I don't know.

ECU can be converted; the axles are the same for both a manual and a stick. Shift linkages from a 92 to 00 civic/del Sol will work (SOHC), you need a set of pedals and a clutch reservoir and all the plumbing to the slave cylinder. You will need a flywheel and clutch and about 3 to 4 days to do this at a reasonable pace. Let me know if you want the factory manual pages for it. And the console is the same for a stick and an auto. The tranny needs to be replaced of corse
