auto to manual

i am looking at buying a 1996 teg but it's auto (tho the car looks damn decent :S :S)
and it's cheap and pretty low miles (about 150k, low for a honda ;D)
i was wondering how hard it is to do the auto to manual swap and about how much it would cost
also how hard is it to do right? i don't want it to be O0 :8 up

Hope you dont have emissions testing in your area. It will throw codes for the lack of the automatic electronics if you swap it.

if you dont have something intelligent to say, then dont type. thanks. all you need is the manual ECU, then magically, those codes no longer exist! idiot.

anyway, swapping the eg/dc chassis from auto to manual is pretty straightforward. all the automatic stuff basically unbolts and you just bolt the manual stuff in. you will need a conversion mount for the trans to framerail though, unless you want to cut the bracket off the rail and move it, cause its about an inch to far and forward of where it needs to be. you also need the manual rear T bracket, and manual front trans bracket. you can use the auto wiring harness, you can just clip off the couple auto plugs on it. you'll need a manual pedal set too, obviously, but there is already holes drilled to bolt the clutch master to the pedal.

theres a few more things, but its really pretty simple. i think i've done 7 or 8 of them in total. there are a couple write-ups on H-T.

if you have any specific questions, i suppose you couple pm me, as long as they arent stupid noobie questions.

to answer your original question, YES you should buy the auto integra and convert it if its damned clean. as long yas you have some basic mechanical knowledge, or have enough money to buy beer for someone who does :6

Go ahead and open your mouth again you fucktard.

You obviously dont work in the automotive industry, and have never read anything that even remotely resembles emissions laws.

For example, here in NC, if the VIN that is burned to the ecu from the factory does not match the VIN that is scanned and sent to Raleigh, it will throw up a red flag and prevent the inspection. It may or may not be that way in the area he lives. Having owned a decently quick integra myself, and having completed the auto to manual swap, I am well informed of what it takes to do it.

I was warning him of that possibilty before he made his decision which...

Was this and he clearly decided not to get the car.

Again makes you look like a ------- idiot due to your incredible lack of reading comprehension and tendency to jump on someone for a comment that was more educated and above your own head.

You disagree with me on one thing, JD calls you out on it, because I was right, and all of a sudden you think you gotta call my bluff on everything I say? Dude, I am the first person to conceide my opinion or comments if proven wrong. But you dont have to be a dick, and quite frankly I think your over-reacting.

I am not some un-educated noob, I am a master certified Porsche tech who has spent the last ten years building some nasty street cars, and quite a few scca/nasa/pcna road race cars, most of them faster than 95% of folks on this site will ever experience.

So go ahead. Have fun swinging your e-dick around like those dipshits that run HT and see how much respect you get for being an asshat. As it sits I have nothing against you. Flame away at me if you wish, but dont expect it to get you anywhere on here or in 'real' life.

NY plugs into the ecu for inspection. i've swapped ecus between 96+ cars and not had a problem. i was going off what i knew about NY (and other) states.

seriously, i dont even remember what i disagreed with you about. i certainly did not follow you around the forum to nit-pick at your posts. i'm not that guy.

i probably went overboard with the sarcasm and insults when referring to your post, but this is HMT, and thats what we do here.

knowing what i know of you now, i'll be a man and admit that i was wrong, and apologize.

i'll also admit to NOT reading the second to last post in full. but i will stick to my opinion that he should buy the car if its clean, LS motors are under $300, and if he can do an auto-man swap, he can do a motor swap.

so, in short, sorry for thinking you're a noob with a keyboard and a google search. i'll be the man and admit the fact that i was wrong. i give respect where its due.

Not a problem dude. I am the similar sort of person. I sound like an ass on the interweb. You also have my respect. ;)
