Auto --> Manual

I've been looking up all the different parts for an auto--manual transmission swap for my civic and I ran into one small problem.

From what I've read the upper transmission mount from an auto will not work and a manual needs to be "modified" but I can't see how or what all is involved. What exactly is the deal there?

And is this everything, or did I forget something?

Tranny with the fork and pilot bearing and flywheel cover, Clutch with pressure plate, flywheel, all of the flywheel and pressure plate bolts, Manual Starter with the 2 bolts, Front tranny mount, Manual Rear support bracket, Manual Front Tranny mount, upper Tranny mount, pedals, clutch master with clutch reseviour, slave cylinder, hard clutch lines going from clutch master to slave cylinder, soft clutch line between the hard clutch lines and slave cylinder, shift linkages with the pin and clamp for the shifter and the 2 washers and bolt that support the stablizer, and the shifter...

no its not

the upper tranny mount for a 92-95 civic is different. Also, the hanger on the chassis is different from auto to manual.

The solution: Drill hanger off of the body using spot weld drillbit, buy a $35 hanger from honda for a manual transmission, and weld new hanger onto chassis. Bolt up to tranny using 5 speed upper tranny mount. the positioning is about 1" different too. believe its about 1" forward. What I did was bolt everything else up, and then loosely bolted the mount to the hanger, and the mount to the tranny up tight, put some pressure on it with the jack til it sat centered in the rubber of the mounts, and then tacked it into place.

Way better to just get the new frame bracket. Then it just bolts up to the stock mount for a 5spd.

Can't see why this option is not posted in all the DIY threads. I think Fook did in his.
