Auto Boost Question ... (calling all automatic turbo guys)

Hey guys i'm new to the hmt scene & i'd like first and foremost say that although i haven't contributed to the site , it's one of my favorite & definitely one of the most helpful sites turbo wise ... now that i'm done sucking up here's my situation .

I drive a 93 civic and it's an automatic ... i've been researching online (hmt , h-t & google) and debating in my head what i should do next forced induction wise. I'm currently running a Mini-me (b7/z6) w/ bolt-on's and i'm looking forward to enter the forced induction world , well my questoin pretty much is I currently piecing together a turbo kit (T3 setup) & i'm just wondering if my automatic transmission should be able to hold 5 psi at daily driving , i'd also be running the turbo's internal wastegate & i know i may get a "boost creep" or "boost spike" so it may just to 7 psi everyonce in awhile . Right now i'm liking my automatic especially in the hilly and traffic area i live in so i figured i can just run low boost right now and be safe. sorry i'm problay confusing but my question is pretty much

"will an automatic be able to run safely on 5 psi daily ?"

also i've been trying to research about intercoolers & i've been debating on a sidemount or front I'm leaning more towards the sidemount just becuase they can be found cheaper than fmic's so i'm just wondeirng ...

"Will a small dsm side mount intercooler be fine for a daily driven civic running 5 psi ?"

If you guys can help me i'd definitely appreciate it , sorry for the long post ... - thanks justin

oh & also right now i'm not looking to go the 5 spd. conversion route just b/c i'm not trying to go through the headache of finding all the parts right now & also the work that goes w/ it so i'd put the 5 spd. conversion on hold for a couple of months for now ...

5 psi daily would be fine.
the problem is your compression on that setup. you have to make sure you can tune your ecu.
u can get ur ecu chipped and run uber for little money.
the other think is finding an internal wastegate that is set at 5psi or below.
the smic would be fine also.

yeah people told me to check out my compression on the motor so i can see if it's safe for turbo , my current setup is b7 block y8 headgasket & Z6 head so if anyone knows the compression of the setup i'd appreciate it ... as for chpping and tuning I was gonna get the ecu chipped & than i found a local uberdata guy who was gonna do a map for me , lastly what are the factory psi settings of internal wastgates usually set to (mines off a dodge) ?

if i were you ( and im gonna do this to my wifes car ) i would go with a Hf manifold/ BMC, Weir Racing adapter plate for a IHI probe/ MX6 turbo and run with that.

It will spool a bit faster and it should be good through red line. as far as a sidemount, its gonna depend on how much room you have and wether or not you are planning on keeping your A/C and P/S.

Good luck and keep us posted!
