Default auto to 5 spd quick question.

For the clutch cable the hole that should be in the firewall is that only found on the hatches or is it in a crx? We are doing this on a 90 crx dx. Either were blind i can not find this hole(gromet) anywhere. Is this something that has to have a hole drilled for? Ive checked all over the place can not find anything i must be a retard or something :1 :1

1.75" ? Are you nuts? The auto trans versions didn't have the hole for the cable, so you have to drill one out, yes. Measure the size of the cable going in...should be no more than 3/4" hole. Actually what i did for mine was drill the hole then pound a 1/2" extension through it to open it up a bit. Just be careful and make sure it's right in line with the clutch pedal.

Thanks for the proper info thats what we were thinking but alot of people said there was a gromet for it. I guess the crx's dont come with one or might just be that year thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Any pics would be appreciated if you have any if not we will eyeball it to the best of our capabilities.

Sorry, i don't have any pics layin around just yet...gimme a little and i could go shoot one of my car. Actually, all auto tranny cars from 88-91 don't have the hole, or at least i've never seen one yet. You're also going to be missing 2 of the mounting studs for your pedal assembly near the clutch pedal...don't worry bout them though. Easiest way to get things lined up for your cable is to either measure it out on a manual trans car, or drill a small hole from the inside of the car out where the clutch pedal will be and use that as a pilot hole. If you have any more questions on the auto/manual swap let me know...i've done about 4 of them so far on the 88-91 chassis.

If you use a grommet, and don't just stick the cable in a jagged hole, then use you need 1.75 inches. That is EXACTLY the size of the facotry grommet for the clutch cable that I recieved from honda. :1
