another vitara question

ok so ive been reading up on all this piston hype......and how some say its only better due to the low ass c/r, which seems true but the metalurgy seems much better also......anyways what would i be lookin at as far as c/r with an a6 block and y8 head with stock hg? from the d series compression calculator i used an a6/y8 combo yeilds around 10.8....and it seems that the pistons drop the c/r around a full point so would we be talking 9.6-9.9???? that seems much more useable for turbo to me than the 8.0 c/r im seeing people have with those pistons in other d-series setups.......i may be talkin out my ass but a decent c/r with stronger pistons sounds good....

I think the difference to a good set of aftermarket would be well worth the extra scratch. Cast is cast and it will fail. my.02 ;)

Re:another vitara question

i agree...for a cheap build they sound ok, but i would rather spend the $$ and get a set of brand-name forged pistons in whatever comp. ratio you want ;)

w3rd. Vitara's drop your compression way low (something crazy like, 5:1) so when you're boosting 20 psi, its running the same HP/TQ as another guy running 10 psi on stock internals :-\ I completely agree with ghettoturbo here, save your money and do it right ;)

EDIT: just read your last post.. run 10 psi on stock internals. Should last ya a while :P

I doubt it would even run at that low of compression. :P It puts you in the high 7's-low 8's depending on your motor.

Re:another vitara question

they're not too bad in a z6, about 8.5:1 comp.

Re:another vitara question

the y8 head and y8 head gasket will bump the compression to 10:1, so those pistons will drop it back down to.. 9:1 or 8.5:1 somewhere in there.. sounds good to me.
