another summit rpm switch question
now dont get mad if i ask the same dumb question. i have turbo charged my d16a6, and now i am adding the vtec head. i am using a summit rpm switchand a relay. my question is it calls for a +12v switched fron ignition. where does this wire go or come from. i have it set up from msd box; black to ground.
yellow to #86 on relay red to ignition white to blue wire on distrbutor from relay; #87 to green wire on vtec solenoid #30 to +12 volts fused from batt. #85 where in the hell does this wire go to?? it says +12v switched from ignition. please help. i have the rpm switch with the 4800 module insert |
Re:another summit rpm switch question
the red to ignition is a switched ignition. It needs power (12v) from a source that only supplies the power then the car is on (switched ignition).
If you are having trouble finding some try this. In your fuse box under the dash there are to blank pins. These are accessory plugs that honda gave us. One is switched ignition and once is switched lights. Use a volt meter or a test light to find which is which. Crimp a good female connect on the wire and plug er' in. |
Re:another summit rpm switch question
so the red wire from the msd rpm switch is a accessorie turned on when you turn the key. and the #85 from the relay goes to an accessorie that is also tuned on when the key is turned...correct?

Re:another summit rpm switch question
Yes and no. You need to hook it up to an "ignition hot" so it is on when the ignition is on or the engine is running. That would be the last position of the ignition not counting the starter(duh).

Re:another summit rpm switch question
ok can you hook up through a relay and a push button switch (push to activate and release to de-activate) to kick in when you want it to. or does it have to be computer controlled?
