ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Is the mini-me swap for a d16a6 the same as a d15 motor? Antyhing diferent than if i were to swap with a d16a6?

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
The D16 is bigger. :P The compression would be different. Here play with this for a while. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...;threadid=6456 ;D

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Ive used that before. What i was wondering, is if I were gona swap a z6 head on to a d16a6, would it be the same exact swap(as in steps, and what i have to do) to put a z6 head on a d15.
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
As far as the general bolts, oil passages and wiring I would say yes, they are the same, but I have never done a mini me so I know nothing. :P

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Anyone know, is there anything diferent between the two swaps?
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
The only thing different is the timing belt for the 1.5 uses a VX timing belt, and othere than that everything else is the same. I've got a D15b2 with a z6 head but still messin' around with the timing. Best thing if you go minime is to get a adj. cam gear cause timing is a total pain in the ass on these things.
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
What about a BTM , would that be sufficent? Also, i could use it if i have plans to turbo it, which i probably would.
But the timing belt is the only thing diferent? I heard somewhere that you have to modify the dizzy. That i understand. Is there anything diferent about the dizzy's on the d15's? |
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Use the D16Z6 dizzy and the VX timing belt and you should be fine. Get the gear (timing that is) while your at it to save headakes down the road.

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
depending on what d15 u might need to do a dpfi to mpfi switch too.
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
no, the D15's that were in the sols were MPFI stock.
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Which d15's are vtec andn on vtec. Any of you know the specs of the d15b2 b7 b8? etc. etc. I know about d16's b16's b18's b20's, but i don't have any frieken experience with a single d15 :( Any info would help. Thanks, and onyx, once again, thanks for stickin up for the sol's ;)

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Also, I was wondering what kind of numbers could you pull from a high compression mini-me? If I did the mini-me swap, how could I go about rasing my compression, and would it be worth it? Im just kind of curious as to how much NA power you could pull out of one. And can anyone answer my Previous reply?

Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
The JDM D15's were VTEC.
You could put a set of ZC pistons in it along with the mini me and have crazy high compression of 12.35:1 D15B2= 92HP & 89ft.lbs./compression ratio=9.2:1 D15B7= 102HP & 98ft.lbs/compression ratio=9.2:1 D15B8= 70HP & 91ft.lbs/compression ratio=9.1:1 __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Are the b2 and b7 vtec? and the b8 is non vtec?
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
no, the usdm b2 and b7 are the dx models. no vtec in the states
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
Which one was vtec then?? I thought that there was a 1.5 that was vtec.
|
Re:ANOTHER MINI-ME QUESTION
B7, but not all of them. I believe the JDM models were the only ones that are VTEC.
