Default air in oil pressure gauge line

is it normal to have air in the line to a mechanical oil pressure gauge? when i 1st started my car it filled up with oil, because it leaked at the gauge cause i destroyed the little compression sleeve over-tighting it, now its fixed and theres gaps of air in the line. or was the oil never even suppsed to reach the gauge?

it still seems to read fine besides a little delay whne i 1st start it then it shoots up to like 70psi

yep. btw these equus gauges from my local checker kick -------. $24 for a boost gauge with all the lines and fittings, $17 for a oil perssure gauge that even comes with a block fitting adapter so you dont need a fancy *** block fitting for 4$20+

they look like a autometer but they dont suck

I just bought a Sunpro oil guage and they all worked the same. Cheap - only $15 at autozone.

Its normal for the oil pressure to be really high when the car first starts up.
