Aftermarket tach wiring

Ok, so I bought a Sunpro tach from AutoZone. Its got a 4 wire hook-up, power, ground, illumination, and RPM signal. Got everything wired up, it get power, but no RPM needle swinging activities. I wired it to the Blue RPM signal on the dizzy, but it didnt work...any suggestions? The tach could be ---- to...It did come from AutoZone.

thats what i'm saying jago....just cus the car doesn't have a tach doesn't mean they take out the wire that sends the signal from the ecu to the cluster connector

Re: Aftermarket tach wiring

make sure that the tach is in 6 cyl mode. sort of like how on autometers, you have to cut both of the loops

Re: Aftermarket tach wiring

6cyl mode? Ok, I'll try it...

I rewired it twice, got a new one, smae problem, So i'll switch to 6 tommorow and see what happens. WTF would 6 work for my i-4? just curious.

Re: Aftermarket tach wiring

Tach shot, swaped it out at AutoZone with another one, wired it back up, works fine. 4 cly mode FTW, 6 has me idling at 2000 rpms.
