Swapping a z6 i know shou;;d be no prob, except all ihave is the si tranny from my a6..Will that bolt up without a problem or do i need to convert to hydro and purchase either a y8 or z6 tranny?

Any help appreciated.

you can use the a6 tranny, all you gotta do to put it in is change the driver side mount

 

Unless you have the 88. Then the splines will have a different count. But thats if you have an 88 a6.

 

Bump for info on the VSS on the si tranny. Do i need a z6 vss.

 

are you going to run it obd1?
if so,
you need an electric vss
use either b or d series as long as its obd1.

I used cable VSS when I put the Z6 in my EF, I used a cable tranny though.

Z6 swap is easy. Need to extend coolant temp sensor from back of block to thermostat housing, and use your drivers side A6 engine mount.

 

yeah...if its going in an ef you will need a cable vss.
