a6 cam vs. b2 cam
i swapped a D16a6 into my 88std hatch these past weekend, the motor had no compression in the number 2 cylinder, swapping the head solved the problem. Runs great, the only advantage over the dx head ive been told is the cam, so i swapped the cam and the engine runs like ----. Timing marks are dead on, valve adjustments are in spec. Anything advice, inputs would be appreciated.

no check engine light, no trouble codes at all. Almost runs likes its out of gas but its full.

Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
i think i know what you are saying.. but please confirm..
you swapped a d16a6 into your 88 civic std. and then you put the DX Cam in it? |
Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
sounds like thats what he said
...dont get whyy he would do that though...i know the a6 cam in a dx head enables you to retard/advance timing by skipping a tooth on the timing belt. ??? |
Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
the head was bad on the a6 so i put the dx head on it for a temp. fix, and the heads are "supposed" to be the same so i just put the dx head on the a6 bottem end with the a6 cam and it runs like ----
A6 bottom + DX head w/a6 cam = runs like ----! anyone know why? |
Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
Put the DX cam back in

Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
This causes now matter what that you will be a half a tooth off on the t-belt due to the block deck height differences, a cam out of a 1.6L is a half tooth out of time in a 1.5L. This can be fixed with any cam gear. It's a nice upgrade just needs to be adjusted to run correct.

Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
i understand what your saying, but block deck height should have no effect since im using the a6 block and the heads are the same.

Re:a6 cam vs. b2 cam
problem solved. heights have different heights meaning the a6 cam should be timed differently than the b2 cam, thats for what help you offered
