Default a6 cam in dx head?

got a d16a6 in an si i'm workin on and the cam was seized up when car was bought. took a straight edge and feeler gages to the head expecting warp but is in spec. went to tear it apart to clean it and inspect valves, cam and caps and the cam/rocker caps were way overtorqued. put it back together to find 4 stripped holes and broke a bolt. i've got a dx head just sittin collecting dust and thought of just swapping the cam from the a6 into it. just wondering if this would cause any problems or if it's been done a thousand times. tried the search button but you know the story on that.

A6 cam in a D15 = use a stock Y7/Y8 cam gear to correct the 1/2 tooth cam timing difference.

Stock Y cam gear is only $10 at your local dealership.....

yes, but the deck heights arent. you need the y cam gear to correct the timing issue with the a6 cam

thanks for the info, guys. cuts down on a little trouble shootin i been doin on why timing's off in this car. got that b2 head on there now with b2 gear. got a few extra y gears in the garage. there are benefits to working on 3 cars at the same time hadn't even considered that gear yet.

why not just get a re-grind cam for the b2? Sweet power on the 1.5

because a regrind won't have as much lift as the A6.....and you can usually find A6 cams for free.

impressive dyno sheet for that motor. just a little improvement over stock . might have to consider orderin up a cam like that. you pull that on a stock tune or what you tune it with?
