A6 cam in a b7

Ok, i plan on putting a a6 non vtec cam in a 95 civic d15b7. Everyone knows that popular swap. I read up on it and i have to ask a question that i can't find a direct answer to. When you swap the cam into the b7, i heard that you make sure it is at TDC and adjust the valves or something before you put it in. What are they talking about, what should i adjust to make the cam work right? How do i do this?

you'll end up taking the timing belt off, so once you've got the cam in, you have to make sure your timing belt is lined up.

have you ever changed a timing belt or checked the timing?

Yeah, i've done this, but when you put crx si cam in a 95 dx D15b7 don't you need to do something to make it work?

The b7 and a6 cam gear are the same correct chris? The cam is a plug/play deal.. were talking not much of a performance difference either, but if you got one laying around throw it in. Yes you will have to adjust valve lash since the durtion/lift are different.

Just use stock specs on valve lash.

how do you adjust valve lash? That was the question i was trying to get to in this whole thing, i just couldn't couldn't get it.

each cylinder should be at tdc when dialing in valve clearances. get a feeler guage, they are cheap. they work just like a spark plug gap guage. just put the desired clearance thickness (its on the guage) and dial in the valves.

Re: A6 cam in a b7

Does anyone know what the stock "gap" for an a6 cam is

Re: A6 cam in a b7

buy a manual jeez its not expensive and the tech forum is for troubleshooting problems not how to do basic work that is an every manual in the world. Oh and the timing will be off w/ the si cam in a d15b block hence the reason for the cam gear.

Re: A6 cam in a b7

A6 cam into a B7 head/block will result in a 1/2 tooth cam timing error.

The only dyno proof..........

Re: A6 cam in a b7

1 1/2 error as in? advanced or retarded?

I have always heard that too about one of the D15 cam gears being slightly different, I was just never sure which one it was. 8whp gain eh?
