Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

Well it’s a good price BUT if you’re caught with it will suck ----. Personally I would not want to get caught with it in my car of all things. Im not sure what is all traceable on the block other than the block and tranny but its not worth it, and who knows? They may end up stealing YOUR car and sell the motor again then you’re really SOL. It was happening to kids here. They were sold the motor and the people found out where the motor went and then the car was ripped off and stripped clean. Took them about 2 hours to strip it clean down to the bare frame. No doors or anything.

yeah man i wouldn't trust them either. If it's stolen once they can do it again easily...IMO save up and get a legit one :)

Have you ever seen the stamp on the block that designates what motor it is? Its that string of number below that.

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

Hot or not, 500 bucks is a STEAL!!! (hahaha stupid i know). But seriously, whether it's stolen or not, 5 bills is a deal. You gettin a complete motor, tranny, ecu, and the Harness, shiet. Well congrats on your find, I hope that the motor actually works. I mean it could be blown and have some grinded gears. Cause this is what I figure if a guy has a GSR motor, tranny, ecu, and harness lying around (1) that bitch is stolen, (2) if it is legit, which we all pretty much doubt, why isn't it in his car? It's either got bad parts or he did an h22 swap. But why would you do an h22 swap? Get a turbo and you'll be better than an h22, unless that was stolen. Well there goes my thoughts, kinda dragged but yeah...

well i tried to see if the bitch was fired but didnt find notin wrong i took off the plugs and peeped in lookd normal no debree or notin, took off the oil drian bolt and notin there either, i wont be able to test in a car for a while but it looked good real good and wht was wierd was this kid had a couple sittin in his grage and a lot of subs and amps and crap too. so im preeety confident its stolen. If i ever get busted with it in my car im just gonna play a dumb. Theyll just take it away right? if the cops find it? I have it at a freinds house for now cause of my parent but probably gonna do the swap in a couple of weeks just reaserching crap i need. Just saw a mount kit in ebay or 150.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal than. Just remember its not stolen, did the little bub say it was stolen? So it's not ;) Have you taken off the head? Making sure the pistons are there? :P Probably good though anyways, he did have to get "HIS cars" there somehow, to pull out HIS engine and HIS amps, and all HIS other stuff. But sounds like you got a pretty good deal there, too bad you don't know the mileage, but be sure to give us an update.

i never buy under the hood stuff from guys at the races....i may buy some seats or other cool ---- but nothing that goes under the hood...especially the ones that seem sneeky....there are very few ppl at the races that are trustworthy enough and there the ones u hang around with all the time and u get to know there personalities but strangers is a diff story....like ur mom said when u were little...dont talk or trust strangers...hahaha...anywho...thats my oppinion

MikeJ-2009 03-04-2003 03:25 PM

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

I think you should do the swap and then weld your hood shut. Then the cops can't check it. Plus, it will make your oil changes more fun. LOL.
(Just say no to Stolen ----!)

brought the bitch home, took the tranny and head off, ---- is for real, from wht i can tell every thing looks good, i bought head studs and a high cr full metal gasket and a street/track clutch today, gonna put it in this weekend. Depending on state the cops will tow the car auction it off and take your ass to jail for possession of stolen property.

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

first thing.. if that engine is OBD 2, you will need a different ecu. Also, the tranny is a hydro tranny, need a different one of that too. You can probably trade those for the correct ones straight up.. because u paid little for them in the first place and they are worth more then the ones you need. what is the model # on the ecu, i didnt think 95 were OBD2, i thought obd2 was 96+??? good luck, search the internet for information. later.

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

I dont think there is any way to trace the motor to a spacific car. You can run the numbers on the block to see what motor it is, but not what the VIN number of the car it came out was, and thats what would tell you it was stolen, the VIN number. But I wouldent tell anyone you payed $500 for the whole set up, that just makes you look bad in most peoples eyes, no better than the real thief.

MR_T 03-05-2003 04:07 PM

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

well the ecu is a P72, i thik its an obd2 not sure gotta looked online and it said it was a 1.8 non vtec ecu. which is ---- because i know the engine igot is a vtec b18c1 damm hondas r confusing, anyway i dont wanne got through the whole hydrolic conversion on a rex so im either gonna swap the tranny for a b18 nonvtec one and just hook it up or just build this engine up for race season and buy a civic coupe and make it a total sleeper. Kinkda gettting tierd of bein a rice man.

Can anyone give me good buildup tips for boost gonna run about 10 psi not even sure if i wanne get pistons and rods and ---- or just get zdyne and leave the internals stock. I just need an exhaust manafold and a bigger turbo and engine managent for the turbo kit. i got a t25 sittin around but its got sum shaft play. thanks guys for all the advice and crap

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

Actually they can trace motors to specific cars; the serial number on the motor and the VIN number on the car can be matched together. Thats how muscle cars can validate that they have the original engine. So if you get caught with a stolen engine, it will be confiscated, you might get arrested, and then go to jail. I wouldn't do it, even if it is an awesome deal.

88crxSi 03-05-2003 04:32 PM

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

---- that.. you wont get caught... think about it.. anyone EVER had their car inspected for a stolen engine???

dont get a LS tranny.. get a Y1 or S1 JDM tranny.. better gears, when you shift you stay in vtec where as a LS tranny will drop you out of vtec.

MR_T 03-05-2003 07:37 PM

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

jdm parts are hard to come by around here, wht is the y1? New to hondas, and i taked to this kid (damm redneck) who told me a gsr crx swap is impossibel. Said sometin bout hood clearance and the downpipe hittin bumps, said it was too tall, he said i needed shocks????? all i said was wht the ----, waz he just tryin to seem smart or is he for real, (anytingin is possibel but at how much?$$$$$$) i dot see why it just wont bolt up with a mount kit? and about te obdI-> obdII conversion i got a p7~ ecu which i had a frend look at and confirmed it was a gsr ecu and since i got a harness pice of cake, right?

sean2133 03-05-2003 08:10 PM

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

First off that kid has smoked a little too much reefer - the HMT guys here have a B18 (non-vtec but still same block size) in thier CRX, and they would have more info on this than me, but it is possible to swap a GSR motor in there and for not a whole lot of money since you've got a bunch of stuff needed already.

Second, the Y1 is a JDM transmission. Type-R maybe? All I know is that it's a B-series tranny and has pretty close ratios and feels very nice going through the powerband (rode in a B16 CRX w/Y1).

I don't know much, but I do know that.......I think :-\

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

well...since u already got that stolen motor...best bet....grind off them serial #'s and take a stamp and stamp in some #'s off a legit engine onto your's...me...id just get rid of it cause stolen ---- aint coo....i used to think that stolen ---- alright but then i got my car broken into and i vowed never to buy it again...and i stand by my comment...but obviously u dont care so its cool...anywho...have fun...and if u do get caught....say bye bye to ur car and say hello to bubba behind bars for the rest of us...im sure he will love ya up just right...u know recieving & possesion of stolen goods can get ya 10 years....hehehehe....just ask my dad..he is in cameron missouri for that ----...he got 11.5 years

they will seize your car. you know those drug seizure auctions they hold about every 2-3 months? you can go get your car back from there, if you get caught with a hot engine. no matter how dumb you play, youll still have a long as walk home, or a nice long stay in County... if your worried about it, get off the engine to your budy for $1500

you can always rub the serial numbers off with a file, it takes quite a bit... but it can be done.

Re:95 gsr engine/tranny/ecu for $700

who ever had their car stolen now has a new car thanks to insurance. You might as well get a good thing from the bad situation and get a good deal... Just grind off the #'s, they can't proove its stolen if they cant proove where it's from. or, buy a LS block for $300 legit and then put the GSR head on it. I dont think the head's have #'s
