92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

I've been hunting this ------- problem for months.
Fixed FITV, IATV(EACV WTF), PCV, TPS, checked for vac leaks numerous ways, numerous times.
So Yesterday I decided to throw on my boost gauage and see if it will show me whats up with the vacuum.
At idle, vac is about 14-20hg cold. When warm it fluctuates from 14 to 10. When cruising, it is steady, depending ont he rpm, generally around 20hg.
All of these numbers are approximate, and the gauge is hooked up to my fpr.

So does this help anyone tell me wtf is wrong? I guess I have a vac leak, but how large is it? I looked everywhere, pinching tubes did nothing, spray tested.
Anymore ideas?

did you check around your tb and intake manifold?

vac w/ stock head/cam/pistons/compression ratio etc should be around -20 in

sounds like a leak somewhere or low compression in 1 cyl. bust out a compression tester.

I think i have a similar problem w/ my car, but today i noticed a pronounced ticking from one of the header tubes. bad valve i guess, o well the sucker still runs.

damn, ass, etc.
Compression tested good with this leak about 2 mo's ago, cant hurt to check again.
I checked the im and tb by spraying a mist carb cleaner and seeing if it got sucked in, then hosing it own and seeing if the enginge responded...nada.

what does the idle do exactly?

Re: 92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

400-800 or so once the car is warm and not moving. Cold idle is perfect.

Looked some more today. 20hg vac when in gear and not pushing the gas pedal, also when in neutral and cold. Also once I am moving at a good clip its at 20hg, so there are no problems. Only thing is hot idle = 18-14hg or so back and forth with the rpms...so def a vac leak I guess. :-\

18-14 id be ok with, 14-10 i would not. Check your base timing.

mabe even reset the ecu and reset base idle speed (using idle screw).

Re: 92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

Both of those are true...vac leaks are gay. All I know is that its at 20hg when I am cruising, idling cold, or rolling in gear.
I'll keep an eye on it on my way to the junkyard today and let them niggaz know. Or something. thanks for caring. :y

here it is...reset ecu, have 20hg when I am off throttle, varies accordingly witht throttle, and moves from 18-15 at hot idle. ------- vac leak is invisible.

i dunno about this man. ----, this is the ONE thing i hate about Honda's, they have such sketchy idles. My ------- 250k+ 2.2 94 cavalier had a ------- rock solid idle all the time. Honda's are a PITA to solve idle problems.

in MY opinion this is not a vac leak. vac usually makes the idle go up, not down. stock FPR ?

Re: 92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

yea.
I figured it was vac leak and the ecu was adjusting by dumping in more fuel then backing off, then starting again.
If not...then its some wierd ----.

try pinching / plugging vac lines until it stops ? ???

I chronicled my experiences on g2ic.com...have gone through every troubleshooting step on the internet. I think I will try once more before my turbo install and then give up. Unless this will be a problem with a boosted setup?

swap the motor. ---- i hate idle's

Re: 92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

check ur timing...sounds like ur car jumped timing and ur valves may not be closing when they need to be...that would cause ur vac to jump around...same thing happend to a customers car i worked on about a week ago...also if your timing is correct try a leak test in your cylinder...

Damn. Ok...now I have to buy atiming gun and find somebody in the area with a leakdown tester.

you should have one they are great but he isnt talking about your ignition timing ::)... pull the timing belt cover off and make sure your crank TDC matches your cam TDC. if it doesnt fix that, and then use your spotlessly new timing light and time the ignition :6

I desrve to be beaten. Or something...how would my timing change like that? It was perfect 2 months ago (recently assembled engine).

Re: 92 Integra Idle Issue, new info.

well lets just say for instance, that your tensioner on your timing belt is old, or slipped a little bit, and you romped on the car, i could see it jumping a tooth or two somewhere along the lines, i know its a far shot but worth a look, it takes like ten minutes, just pull the timing belt cover and check, even if its fine, you will eleminate that possibility

A bad throttle body or intake manifold gasket ?
