92 hatchback swap q's
how much work would have to be done to swap a d16z6 into a 92 civ hb with a d15b8 ....it would be fairly easy beacause that motor was intended for that car right??...is it prewired for vtec???
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
you just pull it out and pop the new one in. is it a dx? if so re-wiring is in order.
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
its a cx............and what about a b16 i really want a b16 but i dont think i have enough $$im on a 2000.00 budget
are they fairly easy to install?? |
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
you have $2,000 US?? that should easily be enough for a b16... are you doing the labour?
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
ive asked 3 shops and the cheapest i could get a b16 installed is 3500.00
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
ive read that all 92-93 civics and candian model civics
(92-95) are prewired for vtec so how much work would have to be done to install a b16 can anyone give me a part list....? how much work will i have to do the suspension>>?? |
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
I believe that ALL 92 civics are prewired for v-tec (basically have the same wiring as the Si). I am unsure if the 93's are the same way, but I'm pretty positive that the 92's are. That's why I want a 92 hatch ;D

Re:92 hatchback swap q's
Knock sensor is all you need to wire in.
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
3500 for a b16 installed....thats crazy....hell nu-image auto salon out here in KC,MO will install one for 2200....and u drive home happy...but me id just slap that baby in myself and save the 800 dollar install price.
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
the knock sensor is all i would have to wire in for the b16 a swap i could just get the wiring kit from hassport
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
Dont buy a harness... The 92's all came wired for VTEC you just have to hook up the knock.. Its 1 wire .. or you could have and ECU chiped and not have to run a knock
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
bolts right in too!!
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
so could i just plug the vtec wiring harness from my car in to the b16 (plug and play) and hook up a knock sensor????
so the only parts i really need are a knock sensor and motormounts?? |
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
The motor side of the harness will plug directly into the Ecu side of the harness when you swap motor's, then you will need to run a wire from the engine side of the harness and pin it into you're ecu. that is the only wire that you need to add.

WHAT WIRE IS THAT?? |
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
Ill save you the trouble, buy my motor and it will bolt right up to your car! It will come with the proper mount kit and the hydro to cable converion too!
*another shameless plug* ;D |
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
so a 92 civic dx with a p06 ecu only needs one wire to be vtec? d15b7->d16z6? maybe i misunderstood...
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
can ANYONE HELP
|
Re:92 hatchback swap q's
I could be mistaken, but I think you will need a P28 ecu to work the vtec. The P06 is only for non vtec. Other than that you should be set. (plus the knock sensor)

Re:92 hatchback swap q's
you need the stock bseries mounts that come with the engine to bolt into your frame...
but stock bseries mounts work... get a chipped p28 w/ no knock and it all works |
