92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

I have seen cars on the net with the half style radiator in a 88-91 hatch but the thing is I have talked to a few people and said that u have to hack the crossmember so I kinda dropped it at that.

But now, I am going t3 and kinda need the room. If anyone can provide me a link or maybe a write-up with pics. I would be very greatfull.

Thanks,
Tony

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

I haven't seen any write-ups on it, but you should be able to look at it and see what needs to happen for it to fit. If you don't want to hack the crossmember you can tilt the radiator and remove the hood latch section and use hood pins to keep the hood closed. Other than that you have to just stick it in and see what needs to be cut for it to fit. :-\

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

i did put in in and look at it but it looks about 2 inches too tall.. I dont want to ruin my cf zc hood for a radiator..lol but I wont mind hacking the crossmember.

I just see alot of em on the net and just never had the time so tear into my car and figure it out.

Thanks,
Tony

that's kinda what I am looking for but how far does it have to lean back..? mahcivic, does urs sit straight up and down??? if you could get pics it would be awesome..

what about the bottom hose? and clearance issues???

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

it only leans back a lil bit, maybe 2inches. i did have to mod the crossmember but it was nothing my BFH couldnt take care of. ;D

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

ive got a half size radiator in my EF. i did not have to cut anything or beat anything in. i just put some rubber on the bottom of the radiator suport, and sat the rad. on that, and tilted it torwds the motor.then i used some custom mounts to hold it in place.it dosent hit anything. i used a slimline fan and put it on front of the rad.(u can get these at Advanced Auto).the thing that i am finding the hardest is getting a rad. hose to fit it nicely. i tried taking a stock b18b hose and trimming it to make it fit,but the bend was to tight and it started creasing the neck on the rad. im still in the process of fixing it. btw this was on a b16

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

I am gonna try it out this weekend and see..

^^ Well borrow one of ur friends Digi cams and take a pic!! we need it bad!!! did you have to cut a lot of stuff? and did you make ur own mount for the top?

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

i didnt have to modify my crossmember at all. remove the stock radiator, cut off the lower radiator mounts, and bend the lip down on the lower radiator support with a mallet.

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

i have a spare 91 si front cross member you can have for $5+shipping. It's easier to hack things up if you know you have a spare in case you ---- it up too bad.

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

I am not looking for an extra cross member.. thanks anyways.

is it leaking?

Dr.Boost 08-29-2004 03:47 PM

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

No, that was from disconnecting it a few times and filling it back up. I got it from Ghetto-D for free so even if it does leak I can't bitch. ;D

I'm going to stick a thin fan on the front and call it a day. I think that's exactly how yours is, isn't it?

Re:92-95 raditaor in a ef hatch...

I want to lean mine forward because I did that ---- with the washer in the hinges so the back of the hood is up and if I lean the radiator forward I can get a nice breeze through there. I'll probably just weld a little ghetto mount off the cross member to hold it in the position I want.

And damn whiterice that auction has a pretty sweet deal, i wonder how much he's gonna charge me to pick up. I hate it when eBay auctions don't let you pick up since they make money off of ripping you off on shipping.

is there anyway to get the crx stock fan to work with the eg rad ??
