91 dx swap question

Default 91 dx swap question

ok heres the deal. im buying my uncles 91 dx hb and the engine needs to be rebuilt cuz he blew a valve. now b16s come fairly cheap, probably cheaper than rebuilding the engine thats already in there. so my question is...

will the transmission thats already in the dx work with a b16a? its a 5 speed transmission and all just like one that would come from a swap from hmotors or what not. is it the same transmission?

no you need the complete b16a swap

new axles
trans
mounts
wiring the swap will run you 2500 or so done right

you have a d-series motot, it mates to a d-series transmission. A zc (old integras) or an d-series motor will mate to it. A new head a rebuild won't cost but a couple hundred bucks if you do it yourself. The B16 will have more potential, but if you can swap another d motor for $100, just do that. I got a spare motor/tranny locally for $50, just look around.

Lets not confuse anyone. the old teg's ARE NOT THE SAME as the 88-91 JDM ZC's and WILL NOT bolt to a USDM D-series trans

the old d16a1 won't bolt to a d-series tranny? I know the zc is technically a different engine, but as referred around here, they are just called zc's for short.

the trannies do bolt-on...the motor just doesn't bolt into a EF chassis without some minor mods to the driver side mount.
