87 CRX Si....D16 vs. ZC vs. B16/B18

Hey whats up. My girlfriend has a 87 CRX Si that I want to drop a new motor in. I already have a turbo setup but I don't want to put it on that motor b/c it has 200,000 + on it but runs good yet. I am not sure to go with an engine that drops right in, or one I need a motor mount kit for. If anyone has any input on which one would be the best for that year CRX, thanks alot!

If you want a lot more power and got money to spend ..go with the B16 or B18C's(I think Hasport has mounts for the 1st gen for these engines), less money to spend go with one of the B18's non v-tec. easiest and cheapest is the ZC ... the ZC is a D16 engine though.I've heard that the ZC feels a whole lot stronger than the the stock D15's the 1st gen come with....I have a 1st gen myself, but I wouldn't know that , for I've never driven a USDM 1st gen. I live in The Netherlands (Europe) and here all the 1st gen CRX's came with the ZC and the 2nd gen CRX's here come with either a ZC or a B16A1. Lucky us I guess.

Yeah I would like to go with the B16 or B18 but money is kinda short. My buddy offered to give me his D16 for a T3 turbo I have and my system. So I guess I will be going that way.

Your best and cheapest bet is to get an 86-87 integra that was in an accident or devoured by rust and pull the drivetrain out of it and it literally drops right in the crx. You will have to change a few wires(lengthen them) and swap over basically the whole driveline, hubs and all. It took me 2 days the first time I did it. I picked up my 86 integra for $300 because it was swiss cheese from all the rust.
Then you can get a ZC in the future and it drops right in also. Then later down the road you can go turbo with some fabrication.

89 teg is your best bet and you can probably get the whole car for under $500 be sure to put zc cams in though

You'll have to do a little more wiring on the engine harness because of the electrical advance on the distributor.
Not too difficult though.

Yeah I have heard the teg that year would be the best way to go. I would love to go with the B18 but i don't have a few grand to drop into that. More than likely I will go with the D16 or ZC still not sure but since they drop right in, it would be the best bet for right now.
