I would offer to buy that off ya hotchecks, but we all know about you and shipping things :P

Re:4 wire O2 to 1 wire O2
ok.. technically.. couldnt you just use the signal wire from the o2 and leave the 3 other wires capped off?

Re:4 wire O2 to 1 wire O2
no, the sensor doesn't function properly. it's not as if they took 1 wire sensors, added three wires and nothing else, and called it a 4 wire sensor.

Re:4 wire O2 to 1 wire O2
ya but the other wires are for heater circuit (2 of them), what's the 4th for?

Re:4 wire O2 to 1 wire O2
actually looks like I was wrong. from a bit of reading, the heated o2 sensors merely enable readings from the o2 sensor to be more reliable, sooner.
from the NGK website: 1 wire: black-signal. 2 wire: black-signal; gray-ground. 3 wire: black-signal; white(x2)-heater. 4 wire: black-signal; gray-ground; white(x2)-heater. so I suppose.. ground the gray, hook up the black, and isolate the whites.. |
Re:4 wire O2 to 1 wire O2
Yeah guys, using a 3 or 4 wire o2 sensor is great if you're doing the HMT style narrow band A/F meter (to suppliment an aftermarket EGT gague).
But the transmissions of the single wire o2 sensors is comopletely different in the way it inputs the signal back the computer. I'm referencing my experience with domestics, it *may* be different with a honda, but my strong recomendation is to not cheap out and go pick yourself up a nice single wire sensor, hell goto the salvage yard, I bet you could score one for a few bucks or use that handy 5-finger discount card. 8) |
