00' DX guys take a look...

00' Civic DX (D16Y7)

Ok guys Ive had a ton of problems since my original motor went out. I had the original motor blow on my car but I bought it used. After getting a new motor/Ecu/harness from the same car/same year, I noticed alot of things were different. Much smaller ECU on older setup. I installed the new motor and ecu but I have an extra plug coming from under the dash. (Grey plug that plugs in rightside of Ecu).

My speedo, odometer, cruise control, fans, ac fan, fuel pump do not come on. You can not retrieve ODB info from the car but it runs great. (Ran power to fuel pump and fans)

I have paid for two other complete engines with harnesses and ecu's but all ECUs do not utilize the extra grey plug I have hanging from my dash.

I believe this control's alot of these componenets. If anyone has a stock configuration for a 00 Civix DX I would really appreciate a pic of the ecu and surrounding wires...please help...I have spent alot of money troubleshooting this problem (ALOT) Probably should have taken it to Honda but I learned alot. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

Well a little backgound....I got this car and it was throwing like 15 cels.....after looking under the hood, the harnes was spliced all over the place and some plugs were missing. When I did my swap i found a recently wrecked 99 dx and pulled the Ecu, engine and harness from the wrecked car to replace everything in mine...the ecu i purchased is much larger than the one in my car when I bought it....i suspect the guy just rigged some stuff up because the car was in bad shape

I have pics of the ecu's and plugs under the dash but the old harness was missing the larger grey plug which my car had hanging from under the dash, the new engine harness included the same plug so now I have two...if i try to use the plug from the dash the car wont start....

Let me know if youd like the pics and I can email them....ive never posted them before so ill look into that

ok

Ecu1=Right one is the older ECU that worked
Ecu2=Plug from the dash..(Matches plug on engine harness)
Ecu3=Current ECU and plugs
Ecu4=Older smaller ECU

Sent these pics to you.

Clearly you are trying to use an OBDIIa computer on an OBDIIb car.

thats what it seems like. just use your old ecu as long as you used the same type(obd2b) of harness. 98ctr

Re:00' DX guys take a look...

I would love to do that but everytime i try to get the harness from a yard....I tell them I need a harness for a 00 civic dx.....two times i have gotten the same ecu and harness....is there anywhere I can verify my Ecu and what OBD it is, ive searched google with no luck....and the old harness is fucked...i dont like all the splicing

Re:00' DX guys take a look...

why not use the 99 dx harness w/ your old ecu and new motor?
