ZC REX

So im a service manager at a suzuki dealer, we also own a honda store as well....anyways one of teh ass clown salesmen from honda brings in a car for us to do teh e-test on last night. It's a 91 rex, with a swaped in ZC, the car is way rough, body is near perfect but it looks liek a family of hobo's has lived in it for three or four months...it overheats on teh dyno during the pre test ----, but the fans not working so it looks like a minor prob, It has some gay ass wheels, with falken tires, momo wheel and shift knob, the interior is gutted, anyways so i wouldnt e=test it mostly cause the guy is a bit of a dink, when he came to get it he mentioned he is trying to sell it, he spends 10 min telling me about the j-spec gsr motor in it, i asked why he thought that and i guess the guy he bought it from told him the same, i showed him the zc markings and he kinda ----, but then asked if i wanted to buy it...he is a cheesy salesman so i got ready for the pitch, then he says i dunno, how about $500.00 bucks, i nearly ----...i drove it, seems pretty weak, my d16z with header and e-gay short ram woudl give ita good run, but it seems to run pretty decent, are these a solid motor for boost? I dont know much about them but a decent rex around here for any price is a near miracle......so...opinions?

For 500 bucks hell ya.Most ZC's are pretty old now but as long as its in good mechanical condition I would rather have a boosted ZC than any other D16.Most D16 sohc parts are the same other than head related stuff but there is some aftermarket stuff available such as cams, intake manifolds etc.Ex manifolds are the same and rods are as well and pistons are same size just yield lower compression when using Sohc in ZC.Bumblezc would be able to answer most of any questions you have about a ZC as hes running one boosted in his CRX.

It's not a mini-me, 2BG is talking about the honda he has already.

500 bucks for a near mint body is a deal worth jumping on. Some people pay triple that for shells.

I assume since the guy thought it was a mad JDM GSR swap that it's a DOHC ZC. Solid engine for boost, head is pretty much same as USDM 88-89 Teg's, block is compatible with all the 88-91 SOHC stuff from what I've read. I'm replacing a water pump, lower belt cover and belt tensioner on mine, I'll let you know if the SOHC compatiblity is true.

Re: ZC REX

Buy it and I will give you $600. Ive been looking for a CRX/hatch shell as I have a totalled but running hatch w/ DOHC ZC and a bunch of other things I need to transfer to a driveable shell. Only catch is I hope your somewhere on the East Coast... preferably north.
