How much do you really need the rods? Spend that money on a stand alone. You really wouldnt need rods until you pass 15 psi or so as long as your fuel management are good. Do the most important things first.

makes a damn good point. But whatever you decide, I'll help you test it out ;)

Re:ZC H beams what do you think?

Wow... what a coincidence... i just bought those rods... to compliment the SRP slugs....i said i was going to be ghetto and not upgrade the internals... but i now have 2 fried engines.... 1 with a burnt headgasket... and the other one has some nice extra crispy piston rings....

I was considering having the block sleeved... but that might be a bit overkill..., so ill just invest the money into the head instead... And its true about the fuel management ... (up to a certain degree) but there comes a time when the stock components fail not due to improper tuning... they just cant handle the physical stress that their beeing put through... try running 15+ psi on stock internals everyday..... sure you might hit it once or twice and piss your pants.... but do you think you can pull that ---- off everyday... ...... no.... thought so...

looks like i'll be packing my own lunch for work from now on... need every penny i can get...

What was your management when you blew those engines?

450cc's An SAFC, never adjusted the timing oh yeah i was pushing about 11 psi on it. 12 in some occasions... that might have had something to do with it..

There you go. Like I said. Spend the money on a stand alone. I love the AFC hack and have used it myself but it really isn't the best engine management to use. Engine management first.

Re:ZC H beams what do you think?

while a stand alone sounds fine and dandy you might have forgotten that those are cost A pretty penny. most of us dont have the kind of money to spend on a nice Zdyne, or motec for that matter. must of us here are usually on a budget and if we can get the most bang for our buck them so be it!
however with that said dont think that having an expensive standalone will fix our problem when it comes to the greed of more power on ourecars with stock internals. So if we can upgrade our current set up then i would like to think that this would be a great choice for those of us wanting to go that route.besides, this isnt that bad of a purchase seeing as how most other dealers sell them for more than the advertised price.
Im sure we all can agree that if we all had the money to spend it on a stand alone we probaly wouldnt be HTM members to begin with!
I validate your point and i hope you do the same with mine and anyone elses.

Re:ZC H beams what do you think?

That is a good point but still, Management is the key to a NA engine being turbo. 250 is really a big deal considering how much you are missing. Think about it, what is more likely to fail, your rings or rods? Rings are a million times more likely to fail than busting a rod. And what causes a ring to go bad??? Bad engine management. What causes a rod to give away?? Too much boost. As long as you dont get too greedy and keep the boost at a decent level then you should be fine without aftermarket rods.
