Z-Tune Skyline/Evo FQ-400
I don't know if any of you guys read Sport Compact Car, but I picked up an issue today and only have had time to read about two cars: a $170k Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tune and a $91k Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ-400. Now, the R34 boasts a 10.06 quarter mile ( ) and is said to be the fastest production car ever. However, when I was reading on the FQ-400 online, they were saying it's the fastest Evo (duh) but possibly the fastest production car ever made. Now, I looked in SCC and there was no talk about quarter mile times, and even online I can't find anything. So how fast is the FQ-400, is it really faster than the R34? Even if not, how fast is it? Regardless pick up the May issue of SCC, it's really good.
Cliffsnotes: How fast is the Evo FQ-400 compared to the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tune?

The Evo FQ-400 was a model launched quite recently in the UK only, in very very limited numbers. Its a fast little car, but certainly not 10 sec fast. I would say early 12's would be more realistic. It comes from the factory with HKS forged internals monster brakes and a Motec ECU. It was £48,000 if i iremember correctly. You will only ever see one on US shores if someone goes to the expense of importing one.
There should be a video floating around on Honda-tech from about a month or so ago showing the review 'Topgear' did on it. This is a UK show. They pitched it up against the latest lambo around their test track and around the twisty sections the evo had to back off to avoid rear ending the lambo. Even on the straights the evo was hanging hanging with it.

FQ= ------- quick
that's just way too funny, I want one. I saw the mag, I actually have it right here, I'm reading it. Too bad we don't get them and even if we did, not too many people would pay 91k for a mitsu.

MarkG - Thanks for all the info
davcivic - Even in the magazine, they said for the price it's nowhere near worth it, considering it's only like 1 second faster than the FQ-350 or 300 or whatnot, and it's a difference of about $25,000 or something in that range
ammadien - Thanks for the link man, I'm downloading it now
BD - Yeah, 10.06 1/4 Freaking nuts

I drool over that evo. I drool over any evo. :P
im gonna look for an evo in japan.
my plan is to save alot of $$ while in japan, and collect parts for an evo, then bring back the money and parts, then buy an evo, and put all of the parts onto it.
