You know what really blows???

Re:You know what really blows???
Get the head surfaced along with the block and use copper spray on the gasket. I hate changing head gaskets over and over and over and over again. This is the last time I swear!!!

Re:You know what really blows???
It cost me about $30 for head surfacing and I don't know about the copper spray. I haven't got that far yet. I'm sick of head gaskets and I'm going to make sure it seals good and never overheats this time.

Is that available everywhere? I don't have to go to a special store for it? Basicaly any auto parts store? I haven't had a chance to go looking since my car is MIA.

I think this one is working. Used the Permatex copper spray-a-gasket and painted the gasket really good. The head had no warp. With an accurate straightedge, it showed less than 1.5 thousandths distortion. I overtorqued the head bolts to 60lbs (I know this is bad practice) but I think that helped out because the last gasket was blown over about 10 square inches total.

Mine looked good on a straght edge, but the surfacing showed it was warped. It had small waves in it. We'll see Monday how well the copper spray works. God I hope it works.
