Yet another turbo Honda (with pics)
I know how much you guys love pics so i'm whoring it up with pics of my setup.
93 Civic dx with stock engine and tranny
Subaru RBH5 turbo
dsm 450 injectors
Uberdata
Here's the car from the outside...
Not much to look at.
The inside is mostly gutted except for the door panels and dash (don't ask me about the doorpanels) and here you have your tach, turbo timer (under dash) etc... yes the dash is RICE but I bought it like that. I have nearly de-riced the car (still working on it )
Here is another shot of the dash--for some reason I just felt like putting the boost guage where the clock and hazard switch was (I didn't have a clock anyway) and I just relocated the hazard switch beside the radio. I think it looks okay. By the way we just had a huge duststorm and what you are looking at is a massive amount of dust covering the dash.
I still have the SAFC in there for several reasons: Yes I know I have Uberdata, but the SAFC helps make minute fuel adjustments on the go between .rom burns... i'm too lazy to get the car properly tuned as of yet (no wideband)
Plus I installed a on/off switch on the ecu so that I could switch back to the stock programming if something with my custom tune went south... that way I could at least scale back my injectors with the SAFC and drive home. Yes, that is a data port I put in for datalogging (no I haven't gotten it to work yet)
Here is a picture of the turbo itself:
The charge piping is retarded because I didn't want to grind down anything or paint it before I put on my intercooler. I am running without right now because I was just impatient to get it running. As you can see, I have my custom JDM synthetic high flow filter element on there (aka WalMart screen material, BBKA stylez). We'll see if I ever get around to adding a proper filter... And an air valve restrictor I had laying around from my air compressor... functioning as a super ghetto boost controller. It sucks ***. More on that further on.
This is the Ford Probe bov i'm using:
It's really quiet, and flutters sometimes. I used some of that SICK jdm material to cover the inlet on that also.
My injectors (blue top):
I know, clean up that wiring. :P
Engine shot:
Overall i'm really happy with the setup. With the super-gay MBC i'm getting up to 9psi before leveling off at 7psi steady. No detonation at all. I know, no intercooler, but being up at 5000 feet elevation helps. It pulls hard from 2500 rpm to redline... the spool sound is super loud also without the interior to quiet it down. Further upgrades will include an LS engine upgrade most likely, a proper manifold, an electronic boost controller, and a t3 turbo (not in that order).
There is absolutely no way I would have attempted this before I found this site. This resource (hmt) is really valuable for all those shade tree mechanics out there like me. Props to you guys

Good stuff.
I don't understand why you gutted the carpet and the center console, the two things that weigh the least, but left everything else, including a radio.

Quote from Sinner:
You gutted your car sporting a d15b7... wow. good luck with your setup. I hope your setup blows good and fast.
Being my first turbo project I wanted to work with what I had; now that i'm a bit more confident, a larger motor is definately in my future.
