I need some advice on pulling the head... Just a basic overview... I've never pulled the head off before. I am figuring I want to put it at TDC, mark the timing belt to the timing gear... I don't know if I have to pull the cams or not... and does the distributor come off with the head?

I just need the basics and a quick overview of things to look out for when doing it and I will go knock it out real quick...

Thanks
Matt

You can leave the distributor on if you want, but I would rather just take it of to get it out of the way. Set timing to TDC, loosen tensioner, take off timing belt, take the valve cover off, take the intake manifold off, don't forget the two 12mm bolts on the bottom. You'll never get it off without removing those. :P Take the exhaust off. Unhook all sensors and hoses. Untorque the head in sequence(refer to manual). Pull head off. :) If it doesn't just want to lift off, don't pry it off. Put your purse down and yank on that bitch.

Tools needed:

Torque wrench
12mm socket and wrench
10mm socket
14mm socket or wrench(for tensioner)
I think that's it....

I can do a SOHC head gasket in about 30 minutes start to finish. I've done so many of those ------- things. :-\

PS- Anyone with a set of pistons and rods forged, a partial set, or with one or two stock d16z6 pistons laying around (maybe with rods that'd be nice) HIT ME UP!! Dire need, as you can see.

Thanks.
