jeep has used the 4L inline 6 for a long time cause it's an awsome engine. inline configurated engine last longer cause the pistons have less friction than a V configuration. in a V config engine the pistons have the friction of their own weight leaning on the cylinders, V config. puts the pistons at an angle, meaning they're going to rest-lean on the cylinders, as opposed to inline that they're completely vertical, the only friction the pistons will have is it's own up and down movement. kinda difficult to explain just by typeing.

So they claim on the factory sticker.I got the 4.7 Ram and Im lucky if I get 13mpg on the highway at about 2k rpm doing 70-75.The HEMI actually gets about 10mpg on the highway. But that doesnt matter here in Texas where gas is $1.90 for 93 octane

I opted not to get the HEMI couse Ive allways had plans to turbo the 4.7.Plus the HEMI was like $4k more expensive :P.

those V8s they came with sucked though. very troublesome.

2 valves? is that measured as 2 valves per intake and exhaust.. or just 2 valves.. because for today's technology... only 2 valves in a cylinder, is like going backwards to me..
more small valves = high revving
2 big valve = torque

has nothing to do with technology, in fact if that hemi has displacement on demand or wahtever dsm calls it... its light ages above your honda motor
for some reason, i just had a braing failure. when i was thinking about two valves.. i was thinking "why would they put 2 small valves in the cylinder" it did not even occur to me "hey, you could put 2 large valves in there" i am such a dumbass (no reply needed.. but this is hmt, i will have like 6 that are quoting me and agreeing.. oh well f'it i had it coming)
