listen to him if you want, i've just posted information that is true and contains ways of getting it done cheaper, i'm the kind of guy that doesn't like to pay for things that can be done cheaper, personally i'd rather have dougmod do it, than use the money i saved to buy a controller and rent some games, burnout 3 is the best game, highly addictive because of the game modes that it has. if you need help finding a hard drive or anything let me know

It comes down to this, do it yourself if you trust yourself.

If you don't then take it to someone that knows how.
Stingray is just advocating the HMT way of do it yourselfeness, which i toatly agree with. Its how i did it, read of for about 3 months then got a solderless adaptor then after practicing on soldering I soldered the chip on.

I dont go out looking for people to talk into this, all I ever do and have done here is mention that I mod boxes on the side. If someone comes to me asking then we talk.
I have always charged the same price and if someone is ok with it then fine if not then I am ok with that too.

well you both seem cool with me. I dont think any of you are giving me false information too. I guess it comes down to which one i want to do Im not sure if i have the time or patience to learn this ---- myself having to work and school and all. But the most important thing i want is my xbox realiablity.

dude, i'm not hardly even saying do it yourself, i'm saying send it to dougmod he's like 75% off... this whole site is based around the fact that we are cheap asses, maybe not all of us, but more than half, and the reason i'm posting the information for it is because when buying a harddrive its usually better to get a lockable drive, and it's better if you know a little about whats going on so you know what you want

nerds... yeah i'm a nerd, i'm going to school for programming, it's kind of going to be my career, it's cool though, my girlfriend/going to be my fiance is going to learn business ----, when we're both done we plan to start our own business...

mod everything? heh, i've started that, tv/dvd player/xbox/car/computer...

it's really not that hard, just kind of time consuming as the other guy said, i first started a few years ago when my cousin first got his xbox modded, i really couldn't justify spending 300 for an xbox, only to spend another 50 on a chip and worry about frying the xbox (this was way back when) he spent like 160 on a hard drive (i didn't know about all the sites i mentioned earlier) so it seemed kind of worthless, but now i mean, look at the prices of games, most new games cost 40-60... if you spend 200-300 modding an xbox, and you save 6 games, you covered your cost... most people say eh, modding gaming consoles is stupid, you can do quite a bit with a modded xbox, run linux, stream music from the net, copy/play movies/games/music... i've been slacking on my reading, but i read for about 2-3 months about all of this stuff, day in day out, figured out the chip/stuff i wanted, i'm not very good with an iron so i sent mine out, although now my cousins pretty good at soldering so if i were to do it again it'd be free for me - parts

nerd came from the rx7tocivic...
