It moher ------- depends. Why don't you tell us the error code<s> and we'll tell you what it means. What I would do is go buy another one from walmart, put his dead one in the box and return it to get your money back. Do not open or mod a 360 that's in warranty. That's ridiculously ------- stupid, your friend sucks at brain.

How many red lights are on? I believe all 4 means your video cable on the back is loose and three (minus the top left one) is the 'your xbox is broken' error.

Wrapping it up in a bunch of towels and sweatshirts and leaving it running for 45 minutes to 1 hour does work. A friend did it at my house and we were playing Bioshock after we let it cool down. Also check the video connection on the back of the xbox.

as was stated earlier in this thread overheating it does bring it back to life. i have done it quite a few times and also as was stated it is a temporary fix. although the last time i had done this 2-3 months ago and we havent had any problems since. overall i think ive done it five times over a 6 month period

the overheating causes the board to warp. then, the 60 or so solder points under the processor and ram chipsets crack. this can be fixed usually. you can try to buy the washer and screw fix which holds the processor firmly to the board so it cant crack the solder. other than that, there are tons of 360 repair people on ebay that can do it for about 60 bucks. i sent mine to a guy that actually desolders the processor with a machineand redoes it with a heat sink....hes the only one i would trust

you can also buy a warranty sticker on ebay

you can either use special de soldering solder which stays molten longer or you use heat guns with special nozzles.

any person with any grain of salt to their soldering skills can do this.

which brings me to my original question. instead of having to do a hack job on the sexbox, why not just slap a bigger ---- en heat sink on it? or better yet, just mount a fan on it.
