Default Wut are the little black cylinders on wires?

What are those little black cylinders on cords and wires that go to things such as keyboards and such?

Ferrite cylinders that act like chokes. Long cables can act like an antenna and choosing the right size cylinder will attenuate EMI arounda a certain frequency.

Please, in the future, don't so much as try to wire up a car stereo. In fact be super careful, plugging up your christmas tree might be beyond you.
