the whole thing is a laptop lcd inverter and i wanna know what that little black thing is called so i can go buy it tomorrow

Tauws is right, it's an inductor or a transformer.

Just look on ebay for a whole inverter they normally sell for 15 bucks depending on the demand.

I need one also but a line down my screen doenst relaly bother me.
