Re: wrx crash
Why were they being pulled? Looks like they had some money in the car, to damn cheap to call a tow truck?
|
Re: wrx crash
i was being towed to a tuner if i remember correctly. the owner is loaded so i dont kno why he used his rover to tow it.here is a vid of thw wrx in action, recently at our local "track" against a r32 gtr

Sad, I thought the WRX was a rally car and could handle offroad environments? Another myth bites the dust. ::) |
Re: wrx crash
here is another vid of the same gtr against a supra.. this one with a police man as a flagger lol

Re: wrx crash
I doubt the car in question needs a parachute.
You have no track to beat the kinks out of a vehicle on, and measure objective gains, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a beat down ED chassis with rust/350 whp D16/trailerpark suspension setup on a set of slicks would yank every (slow pathetic AWD or IRS) car on your island out of the hole and far and away outstrip them from a roll. Short of an absolute master of a chassis, which I doubt there's one much less multiple on an island of a few thousand people, you just have the usual rich blowhards throwing parts at a vehicle in an ignorant fashion. |
Re: wrx crash
My friend Corey and I are doing our damnedest to prepare this ED chassis you speak of JD. :6

Re: wrx crash
I cannot agree nor disagree with you jd, reason being we do have some really quick cars down here like gt35r rb26 silvias and a host of others, we have a twin engine evo and a host of other well built cars . I agree we may not have too many dyno queens but we do have some quick cars. 95% of the car enthusiats down here cannot afford to build a 350whp ed, those who can are not gonna give a honda civic a second look. Another thing is that we dont have too many hmt type guys down here. Everyone wants name brand parts like greddy hks or some other big name company. No one wants to use a factory dsm or saab bov, its all hks ssq or greddy type s down here. No radiator hose for piping either. I actually got laughed at when i told some guys on a local forum that i can piece a $6-700 usd turbo kit for a crx i was thinking of buying. Every thing we buy down here cost 3 times as much as it would in the states. A used Autometer boost guage costs like $250 ecd, thats roughly 100 usd just to give you an idea. we are simply doing the best with the little we got . Usually its a 4age 20v swapped corolla or some other cheap set up. A 350whp civic would run like low 13s give or take right ? I doubt that will be fast enough to take crown as the "island silencer"
|
Re: wrx crash
You made my point. Not to poke at you, you don't have ready access to the tools us guys in the states do, but if you do things the HMT way you're going to hurt a lot of high-dollar feelings on your island. Learn the ropes and if you have a little talent your second or third build will be an island silencer; your competition is a bunch of cakeboys who buy parts out of magazines based on how many cool points their wallets can afford.
Only thing a big power Honduh would have to look out for is a half assed set up live axle, which I doubt you have, and curves. Three stage MBC, like stickied in the Forced Induction Forum hint hint, should knock power down enough you can handle a corner or three... |
Re: wrx crash
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I lol'd hard whilst reading your reply. The reason it was so funny is because its true. We dont even have a dynometer of any sort, most of our tuning involves a long strip of road and a couple guys ------- with a afc. I know i am gonna sound like a noob when i say this but, believe me when i say i plan on embarrassing alot of people when my plans materialize. Im currently honda searching right now. You are gonna laugh when you hear this but its ------- impossible to find a cheap eg or ef down here. I found a beat up to ---- crx recently but the owner refused to sell. I have a thread about it in the forums linked in my sig. Its in the general discussion if anyone is interested. Next week i will be trying to convince a local guy to sell me his ef hatch for $6-7k ecd ($2400 usd) i was thinking a hmt style, 14b , hf manifold, dsm smic, turbo edit tuned ef hatch will be enough to embarrass the masses.

here is a short vid of the lights we recieved O0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-uPpneqnH0 i will get some actual race vids from tomorrow's events |
Re: wrx crash
Poor car.
Owners deserved every bit of it, pulling a car on a busy narrow road is just asking for it. :S |

Re: wrx crash
Huh, I'm impressed.
That WRX leaves pretty hard, and the track is uphill. If it's a TRUE 1/4 mile and the equipment hasn't been fiddled, that's a pretty sweet car. |

i love aussie chicks accents
