wow have you guys seen the price of scrap metal lately?
 

Scrap copper is 2.24/lb right now. When i took some stuff in about 6 mos ago it was 1.45/lb. Steel is like what... 60 a ton?

I have a friend who takes leftover bits of copper wire home from the jobsite... takes a couple hours stripping the covering off it and makes ------- bank.

stainless varies depending on the grade i think. I get scrap from work too. One time i got 165lb of copper and cashed that in... few hundred bucks worth :6

I know a buddy of mine knows a guy who just goes all over the place looking for aluminum, coper and ---- like that, and from what i hear he makes some good moneydoing that. That is hes primary source of income. This ---- realy makes me think. I was driving around few months ago and drove by some plase that installs new windown and i guess they take people's old widows after the job is done, because they had a big ole pile of aluminum window frames piled up behind their office building. I even thought i should take a trip over there an night with my pick up... LOL... naaw I ain't no theive, but i guess it would pay to keep your eye open for scrap ---- like that.

my dads job site where he was remodeling a home some one broke in over night and stole all the copper pipes out of the house

we try to save every little piece of scrap copper in the jobs we do, weither its new constuction or a remodel. the price will go up and down kina like the stock market. i used to be a jeweler and id see gold do the same thing as well as platinum.

well copper is currently traded at about 2.23 per pound so.. if the scrap yard is offering 2.24 then hell.. I think I need the address to this place.. there is some money to be made.

me and my buddies take all our single cams with holes in them for scap aluminum. last time we took 4 blown motors and made 150 on them. it just sucks when you have to strip them bare

I used to do that ---- when I was dead broke and needed funds for 'extra curricular activities' ;) We'd pull up to the dumpster, start smashing the window frames apart. That way everything worthles you don't take, the dumpster is less full and needs emptied less, and you get beer money for next to no work. It was a win win situation.

It was all good till some old guy started copying us and the owners got scared of the liability of letting people jump into a dumpster full of broken glass. We used to get like $250+ per trip. And that was only going half assed.

Keep your eye out when driving around. People throw away stuff all the time with metal inside. My Uncle does that crap, nothing for them to make $250 in a day (one trip)

The reason why copper is so expensive now is that they (scientist geological dudes) have recently concluded that 1/3 of the copper supply is already in use , another 1/3 is in landfills, and there is only 1/3 left to be mined.....

kinda like whats driving up the gas prices...
