Would I be crazy?
All this talk about D series. Sometimes I wish I had of built the ---- out of my d16y7 and put a y8 head on it and boosted it.
Would I be crazy to sell my b18b with probe forged pistons (8.7:1 cr), eagle h beams, vtec oil pump...etc and turbo kit and build the ---- out of a sohc vtec? If I ever wreck this b18b again, i'll definately go d series again, but sometime I wonder if I should save myself the trouble and do it now. Stan ps: a prime example of a kick ass d series.. beerbongkicksass |
Re:Would I be crazy?
D series ownes B series, and I think everyone knows this...

Re:Would I be crazy?
I think you're crazy. D --> B is being smart, B --> D is being cheap :P Unless you just want a good ole disposable D, I'd say stay with the B18.

Re:Would I be crazy?
uh...how could a less technicaly advanced engine with less power from factory, weaker rods and pistons be better than an engine with more power, 50% more power as a matter of fact, and stronger rods and pistons. the d series enthusiasm is cause there are more people with ds then with b series. if i had a d series, i wouldn't do a swap, i'd build it first. but i'd never go d series if i have a b installed already.
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
the reason why all of us D-series guys have D-series still is because we don't want to buy a B series initially (the $ spent on a B could be well spent on building the D, or boosting it, or sometimes both) however if you already have a B stick w/ it. I don't think any one of us D -series fanatics would turn down a B series if someone wanted to give it to us for free, we just wouldn't buy one.
stick w/ your B, sleeve it, go to 2.0L put a vtec head on it, and make us all look like little bitches. BTW if you have forged internals (and decent fuel management), you are dumb to be running at 8psi on a 60trim T3, try 15 on for size. ;D |

Re:Would I be crazy?
^ Just get new sleeves for your engine then :P
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
i have a d because i wanted to be different form everyone in my town who has h22s and b16s and ----. you already have a nice setup as it is. throw some more boost at it. then youll realize what your saying is stupid
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
I'll trade you my CRX for your B series setup :-*
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
See, the problem is that mine only has a mild build. It's got forged internals, but the sleeves are stock with a 81.5mm bore. A somewhat local had a nice setup with a b20@12psi but he cracked a sleeve which is what scares me the most (other than this stupid oil problem). Otherwise i'd jack the boost more than 8psi... which technically i'm running 0 psi right now because i'm waiting for an outlet pipe so i can boost again. ---- I don't know what to do. I wish this oil thing would go away. :-\

Re:Would I be crazy?
theres plenty of people on HT running around 300HP on LS's and have no problem. stop being a ----- just roll with what you got if it cracks or blows then get your ---- sleeved
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
Yeah I second that up the boost and stop being a girl... ppl are making 300hp on stock internals... That turbo probably will give one hell of a powerband at like 15-20psi!!!

Re:Would I be crazy?
I'll try upping the boost, but the only thing stopping me is this oil plague my motor has. We'll see what happens when I get this pipe on Wednesday. I'll post video. Car is going in storage soon and I have a spare b18b block already honed and ready to go. If that doesn't work out, then it's time for a disposable D. 8)

Re:Would I be crazy?
I'll take that B18b block off your hands :P I'm gonna build up something this winter, still not sure quite what..

Re:Would I be crazy?
i think i should get rid of my 2000 ITR and instead get a 86 crx si?

Re:Would I be crazy?
swapping in a built D series is alot like dumping your super model girlfriend and going out with a fat chick only to make her have 10 plastic surgeries so she can look like your super model ex girlfriend. are you sure you're from canada and not poland?
|
Re:Would I be crazy?
no, swapping in a built d-series is like hooking up with a chick who wakes you up w/ breakfast in bed, sucks you off while you eat it,does your laundry, cleans your house, and has dinner on the table when you get home from work, and sucks you off while you eat that.
only she's fat and doesn't suck dick very well. |

There really is no comparison, a stock B will make more power than a stock D, and a fully built B vs a fully built D... Well you know the answer to that ;) Stan, get a Vtec head on your car, it will really make a difference. Ask turbohf when he switched from ls to ls/vtec. It's like a whole different engine. Jeff |
