you guys are making this too hard
how old do you and kain look? can you pass for ~18-19? if possible, hit up a local high school sports event. pick up girl.
otherwise, hit a local college campus, ask some sad/friendly looking girl for a tour, kain is trying to go back to school after being in the army for a couple years. shy guy, trying to work himself back to being a civ. doesnt know the area at all, is thinking about hitting a bar tonight. might want company. gets upset at bar after some drinks, gets ditched by friends. needs a place to crash for the night.
