Exactly.. This a car forum, not a "I'm a desperate teen virgin" forum. Go on H-T if you want that.

Mary, I would tear apart the block to see if its salvageable. Even if it is not, tearing it apart and maybe putting it back together just so you know how to, would be a great learning experience for anyone. I say go ahead and tear the thing apart and work from there.

You need to find some1 to watch or be the person that hands the mechanic the tools, and ask alot of questions. After many summers of handing my uncle tools i learned alot

Yeah messing around with stuff is fun. I used to take apart junk engines just to see what to expect on the tear down process... how to do stuff etc.. At least you want to learn, mary. When you take stuff apart, i would bag the bolts/parts and label them as to what they are, and keep parts dry etc, engine internals rust right quick
