I don't know whether fuel oil counts as diesel, but a few of the power plants run on those, makes 100,000 hp look like childs play, power stations kick out around 30MW (~500,000 HP)

thats not how the generate electricity. its created through high pressure steam and boilers. not an engine turning a turbine, thats far far to costly in fuel.
