http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com...972a7e38f34165 BMW's H2R, the world's fastest hydrogen-powered car, was unveiled at the Paris auto show on Wednesday. The car is capable of exceeding 300 kilometers (185 miles) per hour. Has anyone heard anything else about this? This ---- is crazy! Do you think this is the future? |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
I hope its not, that thing is fugly :-\
Pretty cool though. I think it would be pimp to have a hydrogen powered CRX.. 8) |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
uts very capale that the electric idea will be dropped and everything will be powered by hydrogen. they ven have a runing hydrogen renesis. hydrogen just seems more likely since you can make it by eectrolosis.

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
lmao
we know whose start page is yahoo.com :/ |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
i think the only problem with hydrogen right now is that it's too expensive

and it pollutes more than a gasoline powered car. Its going to be a while before hydrogen is the solution |

meanwhile we have bitches and booze 8)

Ah yes the actual motor only produces water as exhaust. However, the refinement process to get the pure hydrogen that powers that engine requires alot of power and causes more pollution than a gasoline car based on the big picture. Actually, your not really burning the hydrogen so the only biproduct is water, there is no carbon dioxide produced since there isn't a combustion reaction. |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
rotary motor owns piston motors when it comes to hydrogen

Hydrogen motors don't have either :P |

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
At the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda is also presenting a number of technologies currently being developed that could help support the potential for a futuristic hydrogen rotary system.
These next-generation technologies are being refined to help achieve the dual goals of drivability comparable with gasoline cars and excellent efficiency derived from the practical use of energy. An example of these technologies includes an electric-motorassisted turbocharger to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen combustion and regeneration of energy from the car's exhaust. Additionally, in an effort to capitalize on existing hybrid technology, Mazda continues to refine the idle-stop system; regenerative braking systems; electric acceleration assistance systems; and other means of improving the efficiency of the entire vehicle. By combining these various technologies, Mazda is aiming to achieve advanced clean-running vehicles that also deliver an exceptional driving experience in line with the company's ZoomZoom spirit. https://us1.webpublications.com.au/s...0310282amg.jpg |

now yah see why rx's are superior?

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
I think hydrogen is gonna be the way of the future...
|
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
For hydrogen to be environmentally friendly, the electricity has to come from emissions-free power sources such as rivers and geysers.
|
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
agree.. you gotta look at the BIG PICTURE.
yes. the car itself has near if not Zero emissions. but the emissions from the plant that creates enough electricity to make hydrogen far exceeds the emissions savings with the actual car. The only thing really holding this back is 2 things. 1. Wide availability of hydrogen for "gas stations" 2. an effiecent way of creating hydrogen for those stations. |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
^^^Im sure thats being thought of. Havent they already thought of this awhile ago, think of the jetsons. i mean...the idea was started way back in the day... :P

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
There's one hydrogen filling station just down my street, it makes the hydrogen on the spot.
We generate all our power with turbines ;D Turbines turned by water pressure from dams or hot steam coming out of the ground. |
Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
all they did was put a hydrogen fuel cell in an RX8. You gotta remember that a hydrogen fuel cell is basically a fancy electric generator. The sad thing is, is that the hydrogen car is probably as fast as the renesis powered rx8 :-\ |

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
All we need is a ------- car like Back to the Future, ------ take garbage and shove it in for fuel. That would own. Pull up to someones curb and have them bitch at you for stealing fuel, lol

I didn't know they were combusting the hydrogen. Thats news to me but a good idea...kinda. Hydrogen is very volitile. :cough: Hindenberg :cough: |

Re:World's fastest hydrogen car
LOL I forgot they're using hydrogen in rotaries. So now instead of the motors catching on fire every 500 miles they just completely explode! good trade off.
