That ---- looks like it won't sell for the 21k the first bid has to go for. You could build one fast civic with way less than 21k.

you couldnt build THAT civic for 20K, let alone one capable enough or safe enough to go 230+

regardless what good is it other then to race on the flats. not like you would drive that thing on the street.

its got well over 20K into it.

for someone who doesnt have the skills to build the whole car themselves that a steal.

I tuned a 99 EM1 with a Laskey built B16 on Thursday, the owner has $3600 in it. Doug paying asking price for anything on that Civic is about as likely as hotrex turning down teenage boyass so he can ---- a vagina.

he lied to you then, or he found some crackhead who needed money and sold his civic for dirt. 99 si's go for 6-7k still, and a laskey bottom end alone is 3k.

He bought it off the EXTREME WINDOW TINTING idiot in Waynesville, traded a bike he had $2400 in and $500 for it, then called me to make it right.

I like how they imply 240mph would be easy for you to do if the cv joint doesnt break. Im sure that would be an experience

Tom-Guy 11-09-2008 11:03 PM

Re: World's fastest civic

I've tuned engines with big clearances, and big turbos. Whoopty-----, so you spend a lot of time in your final gear, around a mile, accelerating the last 3-4 mph and as heat builds up timing needs to decay.

You are aware how many land speed Honda entries there are? It's not a hard class to dominate with free parts.

MustangC. 11-09-2008 11:20 PM

Re: World's fastest civic

i wanna do 240 in a crx on the street, preferably in a 25mph school zone. that would be super sweet.

Re: World's fastest civic

Very few understand what is needed to run those speeds.

It is how I got into tranny gearing when in HS. I've had the privledge to talk to four of the speed gods.

Gale Banks, Don Stringfellow, Reeves Callaway, and John Lingenfelter (RIP)..........

I've also built a tranny to run ECTA (4th gear) and Bonneville (5th gear)......

Re: World's fastest civic

they said they have over $50k in that car. if they were smart, they could have built the a car that went just as fast for half that. 200+mph would be interesting in a civic though. i imagine you dont really have a concept of how fast you are really going on the salt though. there is nothing to reference with

Its easy to say what thing cost when your not building it. When building a competitive car, whatever you think it'll cost multiply that times 3. There are so many hidden costs in trying to build a competitive car. The R&D of changing out setups adds up fast.

With that being said, people are dumb to think that they can than sell that car for what they invested into it.
