wondering what 3 gauges are the best
I'll have a triple gauge pillar cause thats all they make for my car so I was wondering what 3 guages would be the best to have. I know boost and A/F are two, but what should the other be. I was looking at Oil pressure, but I'm not sure what should be watched the most. Even if I don't really need anything I want to fill that empty hole

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
I would say oil pressure or water temp.Stock gauges suck are very inaccurate.

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
EGT or a fuel pressure gauge would be bitchn', but expensive. :-\

Oil pressure, boost, EGT.
A/F gauges suck. Stan |
Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
New to all of this so I don't know what EGT is
|
Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
nevermind, but what are the benefits of the egt

I am going to run A/F (cause Im cheap) boost/ and Oil pres...so I can see and pinpoint the exact second I toast my piston rings! No really the Oil preasure is really a good gauge to have as it lets you know what kind of condition the engine's "lifeblood" is in... |
Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
A/F to have at least some idea of how you're running, boost (ofcourse! ::)), and either egt or oil pressure for sure ;)

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
I was reading that oem o2 sesnors are no good for messuring a/f under boost, only n/a conditions. So what's the point of a/f because when you blow the motor from being lean it probably won't be from being n/a.

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
yeah Stan its all about the the cool lights jumping up and down :P i dont think thats true about the oem o2 sensors cuz i know plenty of people here and elsewhere that have turbos with the a/f ratio gauge and it works fine. it may not me the most accurate reading in the world but they do work to give you a good idea of how you're running

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
My picks for your first 3 guages: EGT, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp. I'd say boost, but I datalog with my laptop or palmpilot so I don't need one :)
I trust what the EGT was telling me waaaaaaaaaaaaay before one of those bullshit lightshow A:F guages. Just because you're rich doesnt mean EGT temps arent approacing meltdown temps... a lot other ---- can go wrong. At the very LEAST you should modify the A:F guage to be more precise @ WOT... if you search google hard enough you can find out how. IMO, Save your money and build a Techedge or get one of the PLX Devices widebands http://www.plxdevices.com best 150-400 (depending which you get) you will EVER spend o your car. |
Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
that's some cool stuff. they have that m-series dealie that changes the a/f guage to wideband $35+$5 shipping i might get in on one of those

Re:wondering what 3 gauges are the best
i think the most important would be a volt gauge
