I have and 98 eclipse turbo amd have just bought a Brand New Turbo "Mitsubishi TD05H Big 16G Turbocharger". And i was wondering if any one new if the engine could handle such a turbo. And or if mods would be needed. I replaced the plactic blow off value with a greddy. A friend said i would need a new intercooler, and maybe injectors, but thought those would be fine. I the guy at the store said the bottom end could handle it, so what do think

How much power you looking for and how much psi are you wanting to run?

well im currently assisting in the turboing of a friends car... its a 98 too... with the 420A motor..... (can someone say crank walk?) were just gonna go ahead and use a T3/T4 hybrid... custom manifold, HKS Wastegate. Tial BOV... 450 injectors... SAFC... and a bigger intercooler... hes rich so he can afford good ----... but doesnt want to buy a prefab kit. About the bottom end... i was told it couldnt take more than 14psi. as it is moderatly week (non turbo version)..... do a 4G63 swap...

dude he has a 4g63....he said its already a turbo. Your bottom end should be fine but you should get a new fuel pump or at least rewire yours. Also, bigger injectors should be on your list (im remembering people using older 550 turbo supra ones i think)...you should also redo your intercooler piping since it has some crazy restrictions

GhettoD...why are you talking about crank walk on a 420a...the 4g63 gets it....and make sure your friend changes the clutch before he even takes it out as the stock 420a one has a habit of blowing up and grenading the tranny (just happened to a friend of mine)

um... that is just a bigger stock turbo, you will be fine with it stock, for already have 450 cc injectors and your intercooler is fine, if u want to be sure that u will not blow it up, get an S-AFC and some bigger (and metal) charge pipes.

its the stock turbo off of a evo...its waay bigger than the t25

ok, its a little bigger than the stock 1st gen, thats what i meant by that. the 1st gen uses a small 16g. u can use the stock injectors but like i said, get a S-AFC then u can make sure the car is running right
