When I bought the motor from hotrex, we talked on the phone almost everynight about the motor. hes known for shitty service yes, but he also has vouches, a name, a leigt phone number, a legit addy, and hmt members that live around him, and the ****** called me.

i just bought from a newb who has about 18 posts, but has vouches such as jeff, and beau.

my first ever internet transaction was on hmt. the guy never asked for a name, a vouch, nothing. we did talk on the phone though.

it all boils down to buyer-be-ware

This is the reason i haven't bought anything since i joined this site. I just can't afford to get ripped off anymore, and the more i see this happening on here, the less i even want to consider buying anything from the for sale section. The only way i would buy any parts off here is if i was buyin it off someone who has been here a long time and is well known And on the other half of the coin, i wouldn't want to sell anything on here just for the fact of a newb complaining that it's been a week since payment and he didn't get his ---- yet (it's happened to me before on another site...newb got his parts 2 days later then, and never apologized ) Just my .02

see this is what we need is an alliance where u post the scamers address and location and anyone that is willing to help out can take care of the guy. they **** me off and something needs to be done definatly.

Like vouches list there should be a "local list"(someone in the area of the person you are buying from who is a regular to the site that is willing to beat some ***(talk to them or whatever means nessecary) if you don't come through on your end of the bargin.)

I say we make our own escrow service.

Escrow: a deed, a bond, money, or a piece of property held in trust by a third party to be turned over to the grantee only upon fulfillment of a condition.

Escrow is good for higher dollar items, but it does cost money.

I think that if I ever decided to buy an item for over $300 that wasnt a highly respected and well-known, I would find someone local to go look at the part for me. Pay $10 if I had to to make it worth their while.

BTW, I got North NJ and southern NY covered and if anyone ever needs me to look at a part they are buying...I'll do it.
