Why retail stores will no longer be in buisness by year 2010 (Rant)

Okay, some of you may know this but I'm doing my turbo install this weekend and i just wanted to pick up my last parts i needed. So i go two the 3 places i believed would have everything i need Home Depot, PepBoys, and Meinkie.

I go to home depot first, and i go to get my coupler to go from my turbo to my charge pipes. I get a 2"x2" ID even though i know my turbo is about 1.75" outlet(damn damn damn small). Get home, its swimming on the damn turbo. Strike one against me. At homedepot i also pick up some schedule 9 bolts for the turbo to the manifold. Thank god those fit. I also picked up some bolts for my DP->exhaust

Next on the list is to go to meinkie to get the dreaded 3 Bolt Flange i didnt even want!!! I ask the guy if they have any flanges to sell to me. He says what do you mean? I said, a flange. He didnt know what a ------- flange was!?!?! So i had my 2 bolt flange in my pocket, showed it to him, he said they dont carry any flanges and they come PRE-WELDED TO THEIR PIPES!?!?! HOW LAZY ARE THEY OVER THERE?

So, im a lil distressed but i still have pepboys who sometimes surprise me. I walk in and look around because if at all possible i like to find the stuff myself because i never trust the people that work there. I see 2 or 3 signs for K&N filters(i decided to splurge on this item) I see none! I see the rice boy filters and i contimplate buying them for $25 but everytime i open my hood i would become upset b/c i have a POS rice boy filter. So i start trying to see if i can find my 3 bolt flange. the mission for today really. Surprisingly enough i find a gasket for it!!! I think to myself "hey, i could luck out and they have the flange in the back!" I go to the counter, and first ask for my plugs, BKR7E's. they dont have any so i get the 6E's. no big deal. i ask for some coolant line....The guy takes an hour and a half and finally finds a new spool and there is a nice self service station. I know a few members(their names will remain anymous) that i needed 5/16" lines but i also have 3/8" written on my shopping list so i buy 7' of each. I go to the check out and pay. Skip to i get home, neither of them fit over the brass fittings on my turbo!!!!!!!!!

Okay, im driving down the road, just searching for this one god damn flange, NO ONE ------- HAS IT. MUFFLER SHOPS, NO! PARTS STORES, NO!! all in all retail stores cannot compete with the online store and sooner or later they will all be turned into houses.

My stupid rant, i feel bad for you if you read this!

I agree, too many stores stock nothing but everyday joe ----, where are the specialty stores. I hate this generic shithouse concept. Everything is one kind of a depot or another, and they just carry crap. I can really feel your pain bigwig.

91civic-radioshack sucks ass now, before i could go and get whatever I wanted there, now you would be hard pressed to find one that has a resistor or a 555 timer. ------- companies, if the profit isn't there they just cut it. DAMN YOU ACCOUNTANTS!!!! ;D

Yea, i just dont understand how no one can have a 2.5" 3 bolt exhaust which is what i really really really need. I may have to get one machined for me which is probably going to cost more than most of my turbo setup...well maybe not that much but cost more than i should have to pay.

I think the reason why all stores are so generic is this:
In the 80's family's owned hardware stores where they didn't carry every model of shitter, but they had all the little specialty stuff that you could ever need. Then Home depot moved in and impressed people with every model of shitter in stock. People were amazed, and the family hardware store went out of business. Today, all of the family hardware stores are out of business, and Home depot still doesn't carry the small ---- that you do need.

Moral of the story:
1) Always support the little man first.
2) I still haven't ever bought a shitter from Home depot.

It seems like everytime I need a car part they have to ------- order it anyways. It's either that or I have to ------- drive around town to every parts store until I find one. Forget calling them because you will be on hold all day. >:(
