I dont understand why people get mad at Paypal...they should pay because you chose to buy from someone who ended up scamming you?

At least they tried to recover and will continue to try and recover your funds without you having to do anything else...

Ya cant expect paypal to refund everyone over stuff like this. Its just the world. There are tools out there. I like the fact when I open my paypal it still shows open disputes and it was from 2004 LOL

I dunno, while I agree with you, Paypal makes what.......$100,000,000,000,000,000 a year with their 3%, $0.50 fee per transaction. I think they should be liable for at least part of the refund since the scam was done using their service. Why is there no guarentee? They say it's a safe and secure way to send money, but it's not. What kind of service are they offering? How is it a safe way to transfer money? Why aren't they liable for ANYTHING? If I put my money into my bank and I wire money to someone, is my money safe? If somehow, someway the money gets "lost" on the way, who is responsible? If I buy a TV from Circuit City and the store employye runs off with my $2000 as I hand it to him, who is resposible for that? ---- Paypal.

on one hand, yeah they make alot of money so yeah they should cover some of it maybe, but honestly they have to obligation to do so... Its just like UPS or Fedex...they offer money back guarantees for a fee if you use them, just like ups and fedex offer insurance. If you don't use it on the transaction, thats your choice really.

Then you also have to think, they are really doing more than they have to. They are a service to transfer money from one person to another, and offering the dispute services and all that is nothing more than extra features.

Bottom line, you can't really get mad at paypal. You have the choice to use their services and they lay every detail of there policies and procedures out there for you to see before you choose to use it, so if you use it...thats your risk that a risk you took on your own will.

UPS(not sure about the others) offers insurance up to $100 per item for free. Why doesn't Paypal? What are they offering though? They have everyone by the balls because they just sit back and pocket all this money and don't guraentee ----. You might as well have thorwn your money into a slot machine everytime you send/receive money with paypal. If someone pays you with a stolen credit card and you ship the item, Paypal will take the money out of YOUR account. How is it your fault? They're the ones that accepted the credit card. What did you do wrong to get screwed? If you pay someone and they never send the item, YOU get screwed. At what point is Paypal liable for ANY of this?? I don't think any of the dispute options are "extra". I think every company should have customer service that takes care of shitty transactions, don't you? When I go to the grocery store they have a service desk up front that usually has nobody waiting in line and I can walk right up and bitch. When i go to Wal-mart the first thing I see is the service desk where I can take my ---- back NO QUESTIONS ASKED and get a full refund if I'm not satisfied with a product. Is it Wal-Marts fault that my George Foreman grill was busted to ----? Should I have to eat it? Where does Paypals customer service jump into action? What do they ever have to eat?

Telling it like it is. :6 My boss usually buys us lunch whenever we go out, but I don't expect it and if I have to pay for my own lunch I don't bitch. If you count all the times he's paid for lunch in a year on my W2 I'd probably end up making $5,000 more a year. :S

Don't get me wrong, i do think that they should cover this kinda ---- and have customer service and be a good company.

I was just making the point that they aren't up to that standard, and aren't really obligated to do so by any sort of law, yet its not like they are trying to hide it. Everyone knows the risks of using paypal BEFORE they use it, if they aren't total morons who can't read.

i have to agree with this.. they advertise a safe and "enjoyable" service while alot of ---- can happen

i have a pending issue with my account for $40 and they havent gotten my money back for damn near 6 months and i know the dude knows about it because he told me to cancel it because they limited his paypal, why the hell cant they do anything about that? where is the responsibility of a company that's supposed to be safe to use?

Ya I have yet to resovle my complaint, for $300. I think there should be a waiting period between payment and shipment, if the buyer replies within the waiting period that they have recieved the item, Bam theres your money, but if they never reply, after the waiting period is up then the money is then deposited. IDK if that would work, but there has to be a better and more SECURE way to transfer money via internet.

Paypal once screwed me, left my account -700USD and made my life a PITA!!! The money sent to me was from a trustworthy source. Could do dealing for week. His end cleared up and I never saw the held funds for almost 2 month. I called and bitched. 30sec on the phone got me "This refound must have fell through te cracks, here is you money back!!!"

Paypal sucks, what do you expect they are owned my eBay. Don't expect to get your money back. They can't really do anything to that guy. Paypal doesn't require you to insert your social security number, so they have no proof it was really him. Nor can they put it on his credit report.

paypal are a bunch of theives.

What they need to do is the following:

They need to not let the money be withdrew out of the paypal account until the there side of the deal confirms that he/she got their item/service.

Would be a pain in the ass, but would prevent a lot theft imo.

Re: This is why Paypal sucks....

Paypal is a very nicely set up convienent way to send money over the internet. The company itself is probably one of the worst to deal with and it always seems as if they cant wait to get you off the phone. I have endless stories of being screwed by paypal (not people) paypal itself. It is true that everyone has a choice what they buy, how they pay, how it is shipped etc. However, if your having all the issues paypal does, and you make the kind of $ they do, you need to get your ass in gear and fix those problems so they dont keep happening. As far as buying on the internet and being scammed, i have a few words of advice, 1) if your going to buy something new, spend 5 minutes to see who your dealing with and look at their feedback if its ebay. 2) if you really think you might be scammed and are going to use paypal, they do have a $ back guarantee that you might ask the seller to cover since this is your first time dealing with him and he doesnt have the feedback you were looking for. He should oblige, if he doesnt, there is a clue that you may want to look elsewhere. 3) When your buying used parts from a 3rd party, dont expect them to show up overnight and to pay pennies. In all reality, most people who are selling used parts are doing it because they can use the cash. On the note of shipping, most people have daytime jobs and arent able to make it the very next day for shipping, so just confirm before sending money when the seller might able to ship it, that way you can make an informed decision.

*Sad thing is, everyone whos reading this post, this is already 2nd nature to them. Its the young crowd whos still not up on internet scamming who just clicks "send money" at will and ends up dissapointed later.
