Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

Well i went to the track tonight for the hell of it to see what i can get out my 96 civic CX hatch(long ass gears). well i went alright and gotta see a few bad ass cars but this is what i ran(best run of the night/last run)
  • R/T 0.958(yeah dont have tach cant get launch consistancy)
  • 60' 2.638
  • 330' 7.282
  • 1/8 11.062
  • mph 65.530
  • 1000' 14.341
  • 1/4 17.149
  • mph 80.000
this was with a granny launch, cant get any traction with 13's.
hittting rev limiter in first.
no air filter.
15psi less tire pressure
and it was cold out

dunno this is kinda adictive probably will run a few more times N/A to get better reaction times then wait till i go turbo, this summer.

any driver tips to make me faster?

i could leave go take a piss come back and still watch u cross the finish.

boost it biatch!!!

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

hey mike i was just messing with u... However its really hard to explain or even teach someone how to drive.. kind of just something you have to do. But your definately launching to high. Your main problem is you have no power so i wouldnt be bothered by those times to much. just keep it an estimated low rpm and launch and spin the clutch a lil to get the rpms up
Thats the best i can do for u. also one of my clutches might help you

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

i dunno if i spin at all i loose like quarter second plus iam pushing the car the most i can almost to redline. iam changing into 3rd at 72ish and my max speed is 80 so my super tall gears are hurting me, iam going to work on my reaction time but need a tach since i cant really tell what rpm iam in when i launch. iam just ------- around till i get a turbo and its kinda fun beating your own times. but i did beat my freinds 94 4cylinder nissian truck with a KA24DE

leave when you see the last yellow, and go balls out.

If your driving Hotrex's car, leave on the first yellow. ;D

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

yeah thats what i do but iam concentrating on rpms(by ear) more than iam the lights because i easily spin the tires

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

I have a new civic with no tach and launch it nicely everytime i try to, i just dont get excited and think i have to get a huge jump. Just a tad bit higher then idle and then slowly dump it

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

when i was an all motor d. i just smash the gas and when im about to shift. hold down on the gas and pop the clutch and shift. its not so fun when your ---- is slow as ---- like mine was/is. when your doing it in a car with a swap. its fun because u can actually feel it pull. u did pretty good though. 80 mph. ---- i only did 89 with a stock b20 in an eg

Yea for some reason, u start getting the real #'s when you boost it... Gotta love FI

bigmike, whats up dood, havent talked to you since daytona. took my car out to the track last week actually and i managed a 14.9@97 at 8psi. needs a new EGR valve now cuz it misses pretty bad at full boost at 14psi, but then i think ill be down to about 14.2ish. heres a pic of the slip if ya wanna take a look http://hooksh.bobflash.com/timeslip.jpg

bigmike, whats up dood, havent talked to you since daytona.
hey whats up travis doing good on ur "old" car there. you still going june 19th? hopefully ill be turbo
by then ive already started to accumulate parts. did u sell the delslow yet?

80 mph. ---- i only did 89 with a stock b20 in an eg
iam pushing this thing to redline everytime so this is the limit of my current "setup", if i can call it that.
i have to work on my launch and get a tach, i can just burn up this stock clutch i got for $25 to help
too. think i should have changed my flywheel(396,000miles) when i got my engine and clutch, my
clutch doesnt engage until the top, and iam sure the hydrolic ones are auto adjust so i think i just dont
have enough "beef" on the flywheel

wow, you got balls, i would never take a stock honda to the track
yeah i thought i might fell like a retard but there are worse people out there like stock automatic civics
and jeep suv's but i have the excuse iam getting base times until i go turbo since iam repping the Hmt
on my side window. it actually was pretty fun since i was trying to beat my own times. but i did beat
my friend in his ka24de nissian truck that said he ran 15.? something. ----------er messed up his
truck i was looking at his new k&n setup, he had a vacume line dissconected and the air temp sensor
harness was broken off. gotta love when people "try" to work on there car

Um hooksh, with that trap speed, and your shitty 60 foots, if you cna get them donw to a decent 2.2 or 2.3, you could easily run a 14.5 or better. So with 14 psi, i would see 13's with proper launch.

thats alot of miles on your engine, holy ----. but yeah, try boggin your car a bit off the line to maintain traction.

I still wonder how in the world I pulled a 18.0 sec 1/4 in my old 94 Taurus GL, but had a trapspeed of 89MPH, im still like WTF??

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

Well ive seen some really shitty cars at the track... way slower than my accord. I went yesterday and pulled a 16.2 which is slow but its not boosted yet(88 accord lxi, thats fast for an N/A accord) but managed 2.3 60 foot spinning the tires 1/2way thru first. The car went from 2.6 60 ft times to 2.3 by airing down the tires to about 23 psi and dumping it at 2800 rpm, so getting the launch down can SERIOUSLY improve your times with any car

Damn now I don't feel so bad. I took my '88 lude to the track and ran a 17.3 2.2 60' with a toasted clutch.

you should fell bad you have a B20(old school) which is DOHC and with 2.0L of displacement and good gear ratio. iam rocking 1.6L SOHC with super high gear ratio(1st/37mph 2nd/73mpg 3rd/110mph and so on.)

isn't the dude with the 9 second all motor crx running a accord motor or something? F series?

Spenser 04-19-2004 05:10 PM

Re:Why I need turbo, Went to 1/4 track tonight!

no this black guy drives it, he's on Honda tech, i think the car is red, but yeah, he uses CARBs and he made a special adapter plate to use his D-series trans with the F-series motor or what ever, I'm pretty sure his name is BISI, he's a chemical engineer or something. But that fat bitch with the purple crx has the fastest all motor FWD honda.

ha, it all came back to me now.
