why does my car have a bov hah

ok so my car is non turbo and everytime i shift it makes a not loud but not quite bov noise...and the timing is a little off i need to replace it....i think its detonating or something....it will make a sound while im driving that sounds like a knocking or something...its a d16z6 with 166000 miles or so i think a few less ....but yea that noise its like beewwwww everytime i shift and it doesnt do it in neutral and it does it more when i run it harder......any reason it would make that noise?

ram air?.....like a pontiac?...heh no its stock i just through a filter on the end of the stock rubber intake that runs to the air box....yea the car just started making these noises though....as soon as it made these noises it seemed like the timing was off.........what is happening when it makes the knocking noise...and what is the bewwww noise when i shift do you know?

the bov noises are just air that didn't make it inside the engine leaking out somewhere on your rubber intake pipe. that's not a problem

the knocking is a problem...........just a high mileage, probably poor maintanence engine.

so if the timing was off would it knock like that...it almost sounds like a bad ball joint or something....its that kinda noise but quieter and comes from the motor...

If you have sloppy motor mounts, the noise when you shift could be anything but most probably is exhaust. As in, the exhaust is getting yanked on and not a leak.

Drove a GSR that had that problem, the joint where the B-pipe was connected would make a hideous yowl at high rpms or during a hard shift, when you were on it so the engine was twisting in it's slopped out mounts.
